US warship that intercepted drones and missiles near the coast of Yemen on Thursday encountered a larger and more sustained barrage than was previously known, shooting down 4 cruise missiles and 15 drones over a period of 9 hours, according to a US official familiar with the situation.

The USS Carney, an Arleigh-Burke class destroyer that traversed the Suez Canal heading south on Wednesday, intercepted the missiles and drones as they were heading north along the Red Sea. Their trajectory left little doubt that the projectiles were headed for Israel, the official said, a clearer assessment than the Pentagon’s initial take.

A sustained barrage of drones and missiles targeting Israel from far outside the Gaza conflict is one of a series of worrying signs that the war risks escalating beyond the borders of the coastal enclave.

What a dumb thing to say… absolutely tensions are rising as more and more surrounding nations watch and consider joining the conflict.

Both of these things are true it’s not a Boolean one or the other, jfc

A lot more are going to be literally incinerated if this escalates. What is happening now is a fraction of what can happen.

That’s what concerns me. Everyone involved needs to acknowledge that killing will not lead to a stable, long-term solution. Holding on to hate and animosity doesn’t help, either. People have been doing that for thousands of years. It hasn’t worked.

Out of curiosity, did you react as emotionally when Hamas specifically targeted and executed 1500+ civilians in Gaza? Do you react the same way knowing that Hamas still shoots rockets with a goal to kill civilians? Do you? Do you understand that if it were not For Hamas goal to destroy Israel (apparently including civilians) nothing of this would not happen including blockade by Egipt and Israel? That people in Gaza could have lived more prosperous lives in democratic state if it were not for Hamas who usurped power since 2006 and kicked out political opponents from Gaza? Do you?

Prosperous lives my ass. 2nd class citizens is how they are treated. Look at the West Bank, no Hamas and yet they still get their land stolen from them.

Where did I say that I do not care about Palestinian lives? Seriously chill. And Hamas existed in force before election of Hamas in power. Why do you think Egypt blockaded Gaza too? It is Hamas who prevented and prevents people of Gaza to live their lives in peace with neighbors and without blockade from neighbors. (Which I already told in my previous post). I care about lives of civilians on either side, but you looks like have just spewing hatred for one side.

What about the West Bank? What about when Hamas signed ceasefires with Israel and it was Israel who didn’t follow them? What about when Israel opposed the short-lived unified Palestinian government and its attempt at peace, then stonewalled peace efforts by the PA?

It’s Israel’s fault that they can’t live in peace with their neighbors.

People like the person you respond to are absolutely biased and don’t give equal reactions to this situation, their original comment is brain dead af too as tensions are absolutely still rising and they will continue to rise as surrounding nations watch and consider joining the conflict. They are clearly anti-IDF, which is very understandable, you can see emotion dripping from every sentence lol. Fuckin moron.

With that said, “this wouldn’t have happened if Hamas…” bit is way the fuck off course. Israel fomented this situation over the many many years of Palestinian persecution. Yes these two nations have never been friends and the original placement of Israel there was always problematic as fuck, but Israel’s actions are a main reason of Hamas’ existence and motivations.

Palestinian oppression did not begin in 2006 with the rise of Hamas like you imply. Hamas is a disgusting piece of shit terrorist group hit they are not the sole or original cause of tension and hatred between these groups.

Pushing reductive narratives helps no one, and in that regard you are as guilty as the emotional moron you replied to.

That’s the point. These are human lives.

Do you decide whether or not to care about dead civilians based on their religion? Get off your high horse.
