    Literally teaching ignorance.

I went to The Ohio State University, this sickens me. What a fucking joke. They are shoving literal republican propaganda into higher education, and when nobody signed up for it, they’re now going to force them.

One of the “teachers” there was already fired for attacking a student.

They’re evil, they’re stupid, and they’re going to force your children to sit down and “learn” their ignorance. I truly despise republicans.

Only 159 OSU students out of the more than 67,000 were enrolled at the Chase Center for Civics, Culture and Society in 2025, according to state data. That is .2% of the campus.

How many were just there to further legit academic studies in fascist propaganda and abnormal psychology?

Yeah, if my college was doing anything like this I’d absolutely show up with my phone to record or pencil and paper if they don’t allow recording. The potential for study in several different fields is through the roof.

S.B. 1 focuses on what Cirino calls “free speech,” banning public universities in Ohio from Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives, having “bias” in the classroom and limiting how “controversial topics” can and can’t be taught. “Controversial” under Ohio law includes “belief policy that is the subject of political controversy, including issues such as climate policies, electoral politics, foreign policy, diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, immigration policy, marriage, or abortion.”

The legislation also mandates students to take a civics course to graduate.

    So…

They’re not allowed to teach civics, but kids have to take civics?

If anything this is gonna make those kids more leftwing

Like, back in the day when kids got caught drinking underage so they had to work “sober nights” at student centers, and then all of them got shit faced after the event.

Forcing kids to do shit like this has the opposite effect.

It’s everywhere. I heard a comparison between the American revolution and the French revolution and thought that’s an interesting topic. Went to YouTube, top 3 videos were from “In God we trust”, “Rebel news”, and “the heritage foundation”.

I feel like this is going to backfire spectacularly. University education in the US is one of the very few industries where there is a vibrant competitive market with supply exceeding demand. College-age people are showered with invitations to enroll from around the continent.

Under this highly competitive landscape, I would think that even small things that prospective students might view negatively will weigh on these universities’ enrollment numbers.
