If you’re talking to someone with a birth date in the 1980s, they were too old for that shit. And if that person has kids, they were too YOUNG for that shit.

So if anyone in that age bracket smiles and nods, like they get any Spongebob shit, they’re either a weirdo who watched a show for kids, long after they were too old for it (less likely), or else they’re just lying to you (very likely).

My fellow Millennials: I urge you to stop lying. The longer we pretend to understand this shit, the harder it will be to finally admit we don’t. At least 30 percent of meme communication relies on detailed knowledge of Spongebob, already. We have to let everyone know we don’t get it, or we’ll just be left entirely behind.

Sigh. I guess, now that I think about it, a pretty large number of 35-45-year-old stoners have watched Spongebob for reasons related to being stoners. Also don’t do that, please. We’re supposed to be actual adults, at this point.

I’m not looking down on anyone. But in all honesty, I think everyone should be keeping a close eye ON anybody who watches kids’ shows as an adult. Not sorry.

Note that I’m not accusing you of anything, personally, but it just is what it is. It’s suspicious behavior, and there’s nothing you can say that will erase that fact.

I mean, I hasten to add that it’s not necessarily creepy to watch children’s shows that YOU WATCHED, WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD, YOURSELF. But is simply IS a red flag, if a person continues to watch NEW kids’ shows, after they’re about 13. It’s not about petty gatekeeping. It’s about safety.

Not all red flags mean anything, in and of themselves. Not all smoke means fire. But no, I’m not just going to say “I’ll ignore that.” And nobody else should ignore it, either.

      … Why?

      “Because it’s suspicious behavior”

You realize that grown people make those shows right? Not children? Are they suspicious people?

One of the most popular tv shows today is a kids show called Bluey. Are people who watch it “suspicious red flags?”

So, as a Star Trek fan over the age of 30, I’m not allowed to watch Star Trek Prodigy without being labeled a creep? Got it. There are better metrics for identifying people that might endanger a child. These blanket accusations might net you 1 in 100 million. Otherwise, it’s just people enjoying something.

        Yes. That is accurate.

These blanket accusations might net you 1 in 100 million

And you pulled this number from…where? Oh, right. The magical dimension of literally nowhere.
