Get the cheap house then go out and do things experiences are worth their weight in gold. Plus if the other large house is in the burbs as many expensive ones are it will be hard to walk anywhere anyway so just invite people over and when you pay it off you can make it a cheap air bnb if you want.
To the contrary: there are so many potential stances if you take “100%” as a ballpark. But I think we’ve fallen into a common pitfall of non-verbal communication: I wasn’t trying to argue with you. I was simply asking for clarification out of curiosity.
If it’s any consolation, I should point out that I do agree with you in thinking that America is great. We have our share of problems, some dire and heartbreaking. However it is my conviction that, given enough time, during which we will inevitably bear witness to many more injustices, they will be solved, if never to a satisfactory degree, that being the nature of progress.
would you please clarify what you mean: what is the government doing that 100% of working class people in the US hate?
I think you skipped the “aware”. If so, then I must argue that I don’t know enough about the topic, and since I don’t know then no body else knows and if they say they do it’s a conspiracy! So there.
The closest I can come to agreeing with you is community service as a punishment or as a means to reduce one’s sentence. However, especially given what constitutes a crime is some of the bad states, and the evidence of coercion for working these jobs, it seems as those there is a perverse incentive to keep people working for little pay. At the very least, this work, if not something you have to volunteer for, should be assigned as part of the punishment from the court, deducting it against the other punishments levied against them: being in prison for xyz amount of time, or paying xyz fine, but this seems like it would need to be well regulated to avoid abuse.
So I get the idea of a hedge, but I guess the question on my mind whenever I hear talk about hyper-inflation is “what are you going to do with the gold if society collapses?”. My thought is that if the world economy got so fucked up that the US dollar was worthless, and the government didn’t step in, then wouldn’t we sorta be in a failed state? And if we were in a failed state is the plan to sit on the gold in some sort of fortress to wait for civilization to come back? Hoping that you can defend it and that the incoming civilization doesn’t just take it?
What sort of RSS feed aggregator do you use? It seems like a really useful system I might want to try.
I wonder if to some extent it’s because of the title inflation in the United States; an effort to give employees a sense of value without actually paying them more
I’ve never seen Zoolander is it good?
“Bank on plague” sounds like a great campaign slogan
I agree that Israel needs to be held to a higher standard as a democracy(at least for now). However it’s a difficult question; when you have a neighbor that refuses to acknowledge your existence, that has walked away from the negotiation table numerous times, and that every few years attacks your country, and who used civilians as human shields; what is the solution? You can continue to the tit-for-tat in a never ending multi-generational affair or you can end things. It would be really nice if everyone could just get along. the majority of the Palestinians didn’t want this; and yet they are suffering for Hamas’ actions. The far right factions of the Israeli government are being opportunistic in the oppositions silence following the attack. I think the best we can hope for now is accountability, we need independent reporters there and some sort of UN intervention. It’s all so stupid I wish the world would come to its senses.
Maybe eventually when time marches on and we become the majority (I’m 23) we can make good positive social change. In some ways, while living through it is bad; the hardship and unfairness of the system is preventing the usual trend of people becoming more conservative as they age; so perhaps there is hope for things getting better in the future. We just have to keep trying; we can’t give in to cynicism.
MacArthur if Truman fell out a window
My partner does this— always makes me nervous he’s going to accidentally turn on the camera lol
You may be right, but wouldn’t be surprised if some significant percentage of the English speaking world, who grew up in the past 10 years, saw at least a part of an episode in middle/highschool. At least was very popular where I’m from.
It’s cool tho it’s like we’re a tiny civilization— I say as a person who made an account a week ago
But Linux is open source? So if hypothetically so distro adopted spying al la windows couldn’t people just change distros? tbh I also think the question is slightly confusing as I don’t understand why OP thinks Mac OS is not standardized but I digress.
