I have a soft spot for music from tv show intros from the 70s and early 80s. The compositions and memorable melodies were something else.
I think maybe it was a legacy from the 70s movie soundtracks, where Ennio Morricone really showed how important soundtracks were to movies, but then TV shows had to do it in 30 seconds. I love the craftsmanship of it.

It’s a demographic issue. They (Japanase diaper producers) started making more money on adult diapers last year or so because of the change in demographics.
The market for diapers is unusual local. Partly because every country has local producers and partly due to local customs, tradition, legislation, standards and cost of living. It varies a lot by country and once you’ve found one brand that works, then you’re set for the duration of when you need them.
For babies that’s two years or so. No blame for anyone having to use them longer or whatever, but from a business point of view, it’s a two year customer relationship. This short period is very influenced by getting informed by other parents, because there simply isn’t time to try out every possible brand. Time is one thing, but also not wanting to change from what works, and just not taking chances.
Adult diapers are different in that regard. It might still be local quality pricing and trustworthyness, but the duration of the customer relationship is 10-20 years or more. The customer base is smaller but they’ll use them for longer.
It would theoretically be a good business to make a good quality diaper for adults and ship them worldwide at a good price, but it’ll be difficult to breach the market as a newcomer, because consumers aren’t really going to take chances on this issue, so they’ll rather buy a locally renowned brand.
Japan is (one of the) first countries to break this point. It is also happening elsewhere, but it’s difficult to know for sure, because it is only visible in the figures from local manufacturers who make both products, or by comparing wildly different segments using different products.
Anyway… I just find it interesting from a business and demographic perspective, because the product used to avoid shitting your pants is different from other kind of products in that regard.
Having seen it, I have to say that it’s inspired by India.
It’s not a very good movie, but it has those scenes.

I only played the original. I didn’t really like it at first, thinking that the augmentation and mod stuff was needlessly complicated for this kind of game. Also the graphics weren’t all that great in comparison to other games using the same engine. There were a lot of attention to details in comparison to other games so I gave it a chance. The turning point came after completing the first part of the story and getting hooked. The story really carried the game and touches on some interesting topics.
A game with a similar feel would be Omikron: The Nomad Soul. It was released the year before Deus Ex, has worse controls and graphics, but the story and setting is somewhat similar.
It’s almost as if the generation that taught us to “decide with your heart”, “do what you love”, “you can be everything you dream of”, etc.etc. has suddenly decided to focus and rule the world by irrelevant talking points instead of staying true to their own beliefs and teaching.
I hope that whatever happens in the next decade at the dying breath of that generation will not set the precedent for following inhabitants of this planet. I, being gen-x, am doing as much as I can to enable people to younger than me to have better opportunities than I ever had. (Union stuff.)
The difference being that I acknowledge that younger people are more capable. My parents generation never understood that. They still cling to the belief that age equals wisdom. Maybe their parents taught them that. There is some truth to it, but he cutting point is a lot lower than they believe. The peak of capability is probably closer to 25 than 80…
Edit. Anyway. The world depends on the American election. Mostly because the world needs USA to be successful in order to maintain a stable balance in world politics. The last Trump period was basically what fucked it up in the first place and I have no expectations of it being any better at a second term, on the contrary.
Please vote for Biden. Sure, he’s old (please attend to primaries next time…) and Hillary was too, but Trump is still the most senile of them all. I get it. It was funny to vote in some jackass to stir shit up, but that’s not really what happened. All he achieved was to play golf and let radical idiots run the place down…

These are in addition to the existing 10% car tariff.
Also keep in mind that there are large car registration taxes and VAT in Europe. While this applies to all cars imported or not, it does increase the difference in net price.

Long term politics seem to be a really good strategy for this. Notice how USA is marked as green, even if its only some states who have agreed to do so, and some countries are just grey. However, this is fine, because the manufacturers will still need to make the switch long beforehand in order to keep selling vehicles worldwide.
Just for the record: Some cars from BMW, Dacia, Renault and Tesla are also imported from China and will get a 21% tariff as well. Probably lots of other brands as well.
It will be interesting to see if they will attempt to pull production back home.
VW seems to have an advantage by already going into fully domestic production, but they still need to prove that they can match the pricing.
Stupid thing is that it’s locally so cold that I had to turn the heat back on last week after having it off for two months. Just a few weeks back I had to bring the fans down from the attic to stay cool. Shit is just weird. This summer is going to be fucked. There’s also not the usual pollen or insects.
Anyway, if you’re interested in visiting Denmark as a tourist, I can currently only recommend mid May or early September. The remaining 47 weeks of the year are “normal” 10°c and windy rain regardless of seasons.
“Don’t turn off” is the worst kind of status message.
When it eventually hangs for various reasons, you actually do need to turn off your pc for it to complete or to let it roll back in an error state.
When “just hang in there” is still present on the third day you’ll start wondering why you bought that piece of furniture and won’t mind the consequences of turning it off.

“The prisoner” is quite wild from a music perspective and way ahead of it’s time. Looks more like a 60s/70s series. Never saw it myself.
I guess it’s not so decade dependent, but more about someone caring enough to make a good intro song.
