  • I’ll be honest that I have only peripherally paid attention to the Rittenhouse trial, and maybe you can help me understand it a bit better.

Didn’t he travel a good distance to “defend” a business, one he had no right or reason to defend with a deadly weapon? Was it really just that Washington is a “stand your ground” and not a “duty to retreat” state that made him innocent on that?

If so, that’s definitely a good argument for a duty to retreat legal doctrine, because it’s one hell of a loophole to allow people to purposefully put themselves into a conflict, accelerate things with an open threat, and try to claim you did nothing wrong.

  • I would love to see a viable third option, but you know it’s wishful thinking at best for 2024. Trying to send a message with your vote is not worth it, and I say this from personal experience.

I’ll say the same thing I just said to the other guy. I truly hope you don’t get the chance to regret your inaction contributing to a second Trump presidency, the same way that I regret my inaction that led to his first.

  • I am also angry one of our allies that we are currently arming is committing genocide. Trump absolutely will not fix that. Rather, he will enable a 2nd genocide of Ukraine, given that he had tried to militarily weaken them after he was colluding with their oppressors.

I am livid that my choice is for a candidate that stands for 1 genocide, and one that stands for 2.

But I guess nothing matters to you people. You say you don’t like genocide, but act in a way likely to increase the amount of genocides and the death toll.

  • Swing and a miss. NPR(and by proxy, BBC) and Al Jazeera mostly, with some social media articles where I am extremely critical of the source.

Trump was also doing the things we were scared trump would, the whole fucking time. Has been caught red handed, lied flagrantly, and suffered zero consequences because his cronies wouldn’t punish him. Either time has allowed you to forget exactly who the definitive worst option is, or you’re a lost cause Trump worshipper actively trying to push us closer to literal fascism.

I’ll give you that I wish there were a better democrat candidate than Biden, and I doubt I will be alone wishing that as I vote for him. Because Jesus Christ, the alternative was and is obviously so much worse.

  • I’ll tack on just a bit from here, and maybe someone can correct me if I am wrong.

    • VMware’s HCI clustering is far better than proxmox + ceph/other.
    • VMware’s NSX network virtualization enables their fancy HCX site orchestration.
    • Even without NSX/HCX, Site Recovery Manager makes for a slick redundancy/fail over option.
    • VMware’s EUC option, Horizon, beats the absolute pants off of Citrix. And that was Citrix’s whole game.
    • The vGPU option first lived in EUC, but turns out scalable GPU sharing is just plain useful.
    • And then there is the orchestration management, allowing for power savings, automatic balancing, and more.

Basically, every high level solution they had on their platform was without a true parallel, and was built on a rock solid foundation. Even if their support is shit(it is), the platform is so ubiquitous and approachable that you could just use their support as an insurance of sorts, and it gave upgrade rights through the years.

Broadcom knows who uses those high level features, and knows they’re stuck. Our options are a full cloud migration, loss of features, or pay up. They’ll disregard every customer small enough to not need any of that, and they will milk every customer that’s too big to go anywhere else.

If you’re one of the small folks, I’d say look into proxmox, openstack, xcp-ng, or have a path to cloud in mind. If you’re one of the big folks, I recommend Balvenie, Macallan, or Johnnie Walker, cause you might as well enjoy a good drink if you’re gonna get fucked.
