I don’t understand why people are using apps with ads. What is the reason? Is connect selling my data and boost isn’t? Why would you pick an app that has ads when so many don’t?

They say you can’t repay sleep debt by sleeping in on another day, that it does not repair the damage you’ve done to your body by not giving it enough rest.
It feels good to do it though so I still do.
Or just keep adding lamps. My bathrooms have lamps now instead of overhead lights. My Livingroom has 4 lamps. Someone please send help.
If this were written for Americans it’d have the length of the snake in feet. Bowling lanes is such an absurd length comparison because you’re not allowed to walk on them, so you don’t really know how long they are anyway.
I mean there are plenty of reasons. Some seasons it rains everyday here. Get off your high bike.
Do you only work 3 days a week or are you subtracting your hour long fault commutes?
OP spend over one full day a week commuting. Gag worthy
Because you’re on an ADHD page. The rest of us are here talking about the ADHD experience and you’re going on and on saying BuT wHaT aBoUt ThE nEuRoTyPiCaL eXpErIeNcE?
For people with ADHD, falling asleep with the phone in your hand can be objectively quicker.
You may need to update your “no brainier”
As those of us who scroll in bed have long known:
One study, published in the National Sleep Foundation’s journal, Sleep Health, investigated iPhone use in young adults before bed and found no significant differences in sleep outcomes regardless of whether subjects used a phone with a less-blue display, a normal display or no phone at all.
Several studies have suggested blue light emissions suppress the production of the sleep-promoting hormone, melatonin. But researchers now say these effects are not as extreme as previously believed, amounting to, at most, a 10-minute delay due to screen use.
Some dogs get older and I assume confused and just snap. My grandmother’s dog, sweetest girl, golden retriever, service dog, previously good with other animals and cats. My Grandmom brought home a kitten and the dog mauled it. Do not trust dogs. Just like people they can do something totally out of character.
Honestly I think if you gave them the same choice, they’d pick bear too. Bear or a man who has on average 75% more muscle mass and 90% more strength than you. He is also 93% likely to be gay. Now you might be in the forest with your nice and normal gay neighbor and have a totally lovely time! Or you might get one of those gay priests who just want to rape you repeatedly. Which do you pick? Man or bear?
That’s a lot closer to the choice women are making.
Source on average difference of male to female strength https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2020/02/200205132404.htm
This analogy works until you remember that almost 1 in 3 women have been assaulted by the big Mac and bears are mostly interested in ignoring people. They’re not locking you in a cage with one of the two, you just know one of the two is somewhere in the forest.
“Estimates published by WHO indicate that globally about 1 in 3 (30%) of women worldwide have been subjected to either physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence or non-partner sexual violence in their lifetime” https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/violence-against-women
Beyond the fact that it’s not even that women are betting that the man will attack them or the bear won’t, it’s the Idea that both might attack you, but the difference is the bear isn’t going to rape you before it murders you.
This is a very narrow perspective. You think you’ve met women who will rape you and then murder you to avoid getting caught? This is what “the bear choosing people are avoiding.” That’s what the women are afraid of. I am sorry you’ve been bullied, and no one should be physically threatened just for being different.
Idk. I think a big point of the app is to discuss growing up female. Nothing against trans women, and I Believe trans women are women, but as a cis woman, I think I’d have more in common talking about my past with a trans male than with a trans female. We’d have similar stories of being treated a certain way growing up.
I’m saying you don’t need to make marks on a bone to track the lunar cycle… you just look up.
I hear you but it’s far more likely for a woman to track her own period than for a nearby man to track it. You’re the reason this professor felt the need to give this example. Because men assume all progress and intellectual pursuits were obviously sought by men. You guys think it’s the automatic default, and even the suggestion that a woman might have accomplished something is met with, “hey! It could have been a man!”
Other than tides, why do you need to know when the next full moon is? And can’t you just look at the moon and see how close it is waning to the full moon?
Not saying the calendar is definitely a woman’s, but wanting to know when you’re going to start leaking blood onto everything near you seems like a good reason to track a period. Plenty of women are regular like clockwork, I was at 26 days almost exactly for years.

I think if you go into it knowing they’re siblings, it’s all fine and normal. The rest of us saw the commercial blind, naturally interpreted the relationship as romantic and then were surprised to learn they’re siblings and the recalibration was funny. If you have no context, and you’re trying to interpret what the relationship is, at the beginning it definitely resembles a romantic relationship more than a sibling friendship
Do your kids homeschool? You do guys work from home? I’ve gotten it twice, both times from my office. There are only like 10 of us in a hybrid office, but that’s still enough exposure.
That’s not necessarily a false sense of privacy if it works. There’s an inconvenient barrier to searching vote history and if you do it in the current system you’d be recognized as petty at least. Easing access is not going to make Lemmy better.
