Summary: The US and South Korea have called on China to use its influence over Russia and North Korea to prevent escalation after Pyongyang sent thousands of troops to Russia to aid Moscow’s war against Ukraine. China has remained silent on the move, despite its “no limits” partnership with Moscow and major ally status with Pyongyang. Experts suggest Beijing might disapprove of the closer military partnership due to its destabilizing nature and potential impact on its goal for a peaceful Korean Peninsula.
