I don’t get this. US students actually organizing and protesting for… not their future, not their rights being stripped away, not their country completely hijacked by vain billionaires. No. The hill they chose is… whatever TikTok told them to care about.

And even if they do get a ‘Free Palestine’. It’ll just go and consolidate itself as the arab world’s umpteenth extremist Islamic theocracy.

From what I’ve seen, they genuinely take any chance to “own” someone regardless of consistency with a given belief system.

Like when a democrat is in office, it’s “deficit this” “spending that” then when a republican takes office, those calls suddenly silence.

Nevermind even trying to get them to look up a deficit graph with respect to presidency… it goes down when democrats are in power and up when republicans are in power, consistent from at least the late 1980s to today.

You eventually learn that most things they say are effectively just “battle-shouts”, detached from reality, like chanting for a football team. It’s just a thing they say, it has no meaning when you inspect it closely.

In short, attempting to apply reason to conservative positions won’t yield much. I have a favorite quote for this, “You can’t logic someone out of a position they didn’t logic themselves into,” you’ll save yourself a lot of time and effort remembering that. It’s all emotional, mostly anger, sometimes fear.

It took me far too long to learn this. In part because conservatives like my parents actually were fairly rational about many of their positions. Still wrong, but at least rational.

This new generation of red hats only cares about hurting/insulting/mocking “libtards”. Even if they hurt and debase themselves in the process, as long as they hurt the other side more, they’re happy. That’s why they love a big fat orange idiot bully, because he’s their bully, and they know “libtards” hate him.

They aren’t pro-anything any more. They are only against their perceived enemy, whom they have been programmed to think is the one root cause of all of their problems. (Nevermind it’s the corporate powers really doing it dirty to all of us.)

There’s myriad forces that caused this shift from rational conservative elitist smug asshole to reckless slavering conservative moron foot soldier. But in my opinion, this shift really accelerated with Rush Limbaugh.

They hate Jewish people but funnel huge amounts of money to Israel. Nobody has ever accused conservatives of being consistent or sane.

Evangelical Christians support a Jewish state in Israel because they believe that once Jews return to Israel will herald the Armageddon, and will eventually see the return of Jesus Christ.

The palestinians have dark skin, though. They’ll give the first two a pass over that.

If you kids just understood that we don’t have any control over government you’d get over yourselves and vote like you’re told to.

Seriously, very few of us feel morally superior about our inability to prevent our tax dollars from being used to facilitate murder. The ones who do act and talk like that very probably have a kind of brain damage from our lead paint era.

The protester seems kinda antisemitic for failing to disavow Hamas and Islam and the Ayatollah and not mentioning that Jewish people have a right to be alive.
