He has the right idea, but the wrong reasons. Among my friends there is a pretty clear pecking order in our fighting game skills, generally with 1v1s producing the same results. When we play team games like smash, we can cheer for each other and find some success to celebrate collectively. Instead of everyone feeling bad that Dave destroyed us again. Fuck you, Dave.
That was the same for my friends group at LAN parties in the 1990s with shooters back then.
And if you all play fighting games the same amount everyone gets better so Dave still kicks everyones ass. Fuck sake Dave!
Feels good that I am not the only one who has this issue.
Among my friends growing up, nobody would even play fighting games with me because I would always beat them. Savagely. Like double cherry with Dan styling on them.
And then compared to people who regularly play them when they started being online, I still fucking suck dick. 😩
@CaptDust: Sounds like I was Dave.
Nothing quite like the feeling of being top of your friend group, then meeting the competition at a local tournament lol …
Edit: every group needs a Dave, we’re just scrubs that need to git gud ❤️
Did that in racing games. Every single race, mega dominant, went online, mega dominant, went into a youtube discord and immediately got trashed by people who could actually race and weren’t just relying on everyone else being too shit to win.
Tekken boss shifts responsibility for the game being less popular with younger players to younger players.
Tekken boss
He has a name: Heihachi Mishima.
But nobody knows his name. A lot more people know Tekken.
Conflating correlation with causation, I think.
I prefer to not play team games because I don’t want someone else to be the reason I lose.
I avoid team games because I don’t want to be the reason someone else loses
I don’t play games at all because I don’t wanna be the reason I lose…I get enough of that in real life
Try crushing candies
That’s the wrong mentally for team games. You’re supposed to be the reason your team loses, and then do elaborate mental gymnastics to explain how it was actually another player’s fault.
Does that mean me and my midlife crisis aged friends are actually younger players?
Yay!
(We alternate play between Tekken 8 and Helldivers 2, but have been playing more of the latter this week)
its why RTS games have less toxic communities relatively speaking. the fact that its more often played 1v1 and has a very high technical skill requirement floor, it becomes. obvious when one person gets outplayed
Seen plenty of toxicity in the SC2 community
hence, reletive
There’s toxic pve MMO guilds, people mostly just suck. That said I’ve never seen universal toxicity in SC like I experienced in something like LoL
Company of Heroes has entered chat.
Sounds about right
