1am?! I’m only just discovering I was “up too late” when I start seeing the sun through the shades in the windows :[

That was me in my twenties. If I didn’t have work or classes the next day I’d sometimes stay up all night playing CoD or City of Heroes. Harder with kids and a full-time job :(

And before that it was Moo2 and before that civ. First was reading a book till morning, though.

There’s nothing as lovely as sunrise in July, and nothing worse than waking up for it!

This hits close to home. Especially City of Heroes. Part of me wants to play on the new community servers but I don’t have the time or energy anymore after work and kids. I can barely find time to exercise and play the occasional game.

Ah, yes. Remembering the first time I played Factorio. It took the sun rising for me to realize how much time had passed. Thankfully it was a weekend lol

1 am is early for me now. I’m lucky if I can to bed by 3:30. I remember when 1 was “really late”, I (my body) misses those days 😔 — trying to kick a dopamine addiction is rough, but I’m trying.

Me: “It’s late, I should go to bed.”

Also me: “But first, now is the perfect time for activities. Seek one out before going to bed.”

Like yeah, many times I’ve decided to go to bed and then looked for something else to do instead. It’s not even a case of “oh but I really want to do this thing first”, it’s just “I don’t really want to go to bed yet.”

Oh and this morning, for some reason I didn’t really feel that tired after I got my daughter to school, but wanted my usual nap before starting my day anyways, which then turned into procrastinating starting work, and lead to another day of starting late meaning I’ll end late and will need to stay up late to feel like I can do my own things.

Recently I’ve been doing this with studying. “Just one more exercise.” I thought that if I stop playing games in the evening, my sleep schedule would get better, but no! At least I’m being more productive, I guess?

You’d say, “This is a reference to the Simpsons,” and back then it was one of the only things worth referencing. But since there were so many references to the Simpsons, you could trade them in for a reference to Saturday Night Live. “5 Simpsons to an SNL,” you’d say.

Until 1??? Hahaha. If I can sleep at 1 am it would be a luxury.

I stayed up until 2:30 am, went to sleep only to get disturbed by my 7 months old baby until 3:30 am, and then do brain tumor surgery at 07:30 an.

We both regularly stay up til 3 playing games. She plays bg3 (i just assume she has a tentacle fetish), I play horizon forbidden west. We get woken rudely by the children/alarms. It’s becoming a bad routine.

But the important question is wtf do you wake up at 05:30? Do you enjoy suffering?

It’s like my nephews who are continually grouchy and complaining but they stay up until 4 and 5 in the morning playing video games. Their parents do not have any rules about when or if they should be in bed. I just want to tell them, when you’re my age, you’ll wish you’d taken more advantage of sleep time because I can hardly sleep more than four or five hours now, and I envy anyone who gets a full night’s sleep.

My nephews are older now but still stay up all night playing computer games in their parents’ basement. They’ve never married, but one did have a job back when he was a teenager but it didnt’ last long. Their whole existence is playing games on the computer.
