Though they’ll still use the fucking ridiculous boarding groups that slow down embarking just to make rich people feel special, right?

The thing that killed me was “Why don’t you just open a book and study” when I was stressed about school - in retrospect it’s because that’s absolutely antithetical to my learning style… I always struggled with the book heavy classes because I learn through practice and the lectures and books just woosh me unless I’m activating the information shortly after learning it (I’ve retained a lot of uni chemistry because we had a daily lab after the lecture).
I’ve personally found that when I’ve got a full fridge it’s overwhelming so I try and keep the amount of stuff in my fridge as minimal as possible and aggressively consume leftovers. With a roommate/partner/etc you’ve got less control so you need to sort of trust them to do the same or else look at some alternative arrangement… in uni I was subletting a super sketchy place about a block and a half from a supermarket so I just bought what I needed to cook fresh and got a shitty little mini fridge to keep leftovers in my bedroom.
Strong dong.
Bacteria respond to stimuli. Would you call them intelligent?
I’m not certain - probably not but I’m not certain where to draw the line. A cat is definitely intelligent, so is a cow - the fact that I don’t think bacteria is intelligent might be a question of scale or de deanthropomorphism… but intelligence probably only emerges in multicellular organisms.
I won’t fight you on that hill but I also think you’re putting human intelligence on a pedestal that it doesn’t really deserve. Intelligence is just responding to stimuli and while current AI can’t rival human intelligence it’s not inconceivable it could happen in the next two generations.
AI is an extremely broad term - chatgpt and stable diffusion are absolutely within the big tent of AI… what they aren’t is an AGI.
If you’re talking about a service like copilot and your employer won’t buy a license for money reasons - run far and run fast.
My partner used to be a phone tech at a call center and when those folks refused to buy anything but cheap chairs (for the people sitting all day) it was a pretty clear sign that their employer didn’t know shit about efficiency.
The amount you as an employee cost your employer in payroll absolutely dwarfs any little productivity tool you could possibly want.
That all said - for ethical reasons - fuck chatbot AIs (ML for doing shit we did pre chatgpt is cool though).
Joke parties making serious showing is the ultimate sign that the centrist neoliberal parties are utterly failing the populace.
I think you’re confusing America bombing Afghanistan into the ground with the Soviet Union bombing Afghanistan into the ground. Since the Soviets invaded, and the US propped up the proto-Taliban in response, Afghanistan’s government has been fundamentally broken. The US bears a lot of responsibility for that but the invasion of Afghanistan arguably made things better for a brief window.
I know you’re being sarcastic but have people really become so fucking self interested that they’ve lost sight of the fact that the people around you doing well is of benefit to you? It feels fucking insane how demonized it is to want your neighbors to have a fair shot at life as well
There is - socialist economic policies that do work.
The problem is that whenever people ask for those they get centrist neoliberal economic policies.
Bold of you to assume most of us could afford or would choose to have children in this fucked up world.
Neoliberalism (what Regean spearheaded) crushes the common man and its widespread embrace has deprived people of the ability to hope for stuff like a house or the ability to afford a family. People are struggling and want change - centrists are failing to deliver that.
One thing to observe is that in areas where true left wing governments hold sway (like Spain) they’re thriving. But yeah, disappointing centrists marauding as liberals (like Starmer) underdeliver and then get extremist right wingers elected.
Have my upvote, you monster.
It would be fucking insane if they started deporting citizens.
Having an editor with spell checking makes me deeply sad whenever I’m viewing code.
It absolutely should be - it gives you no reasonable value… you don’t get there any faster - and having priority boarding (outside of for those with kids/disabilities) makes everything slower for everyone. It is absolutely the most frivolous luxury.
