  • The thing that killed me was “Why don’t you just open a book and study” when I was stressed about school - in retrospect it’s because that’s absolutely antithetical to my learning style… I always struggled with the book heavy classes because I learn through practice and the lectures and books just woosh me unless I’m activating the information shortly after learning it (I’ve retained a lot of uni chemistry because we had a daily lab after the lecture).

  • I’ve personally found that when I’ve got a full fridge it’s overwhelming so I try and keep the amount of stuff in my fridge as minimal as possible and aggressively consume leftovers. With a roommate/partner/etc you’ve got less control so you need to sort of trust them to do the same or else look at some alternative arrangement… in uni I was subletting a super sketchy place about a block and a half from a supermarket so I just bought what I needed to cook fresh and got a shitty little mini fridge to keep leftovers in my bedroom.

  • If you’re talking about a service like copilot and your employer won’t buy a license for money reasons - run far and run fast.

My partner used to be a phone tech at a call center and when those folks refused to buy anything but cheap chairs (for the people sitting all day) it was a pretty clear sign that their employer didn’t know shit about efficiency.

The amount you as an employee cost your employer in payroll absolutely dwarfs any little productivity tool you could possibly want.

That all said - for ethical reasons - fuck chatbot AIs (ML for doing shit we did pre chatgpt is cool though).

  • Neoliberalism (what Regean spearheaded) crushes the common man and its widespread embrace has deprived people of the ability to hope for stuff like a house or the ability to afford a family. People are struggling and want change - centrists are failing to deliver that.

One thing to observe is that in areas where true left wing governments hold sway (like Spain) they’re thriving. But yeah, disappointing centrists marauding as liberals (like Starmer) underdeliver and then get extremist right wingers elected.
