It’s been baking here the last couple weeks. We finally got some cooler air and some rain yesterday. Something like 73°F last night as my wife and I waited outside the restaurant for our valet driver. I was wearing a long sleeve button down and wasn’t being murdered by heat. In early July. It was a miracle. We just kept asking each other what is this weather?It’s only supposed to be 85-90 degrees for the next several days. It’ll be nice for my air conditioning to not have to struggle to keep it cooler than 80°F indoors

September is only a couple months away. I can’t wait.

Here’s yesterday’s peak heat index across Oklahoma. It being 99° isn’t the problem. It feeling 10 degrees hotter is.

It’s the AC for me, especially. When it’s 35-40 degrees and swampy outside, the weather is downright dangerous, especially for physical activity.

I think I’d get fired if I walked into the office with Debian installed on my work laptop.

I’ma say it: Spinning disks are still a good choice for gaming. I wouldn’t run my OS off one, but I would and do install my games library on one.

When I fly, I fly from Oklahoma City. Getting through OKC is a dream. Hardly anyone flies out of here. Tix are usually cheaper flying from DFW. In my experience, you have to leave really early, maybe get a motel room, and it costs at least another $70 worth of gas to get there. It’s so much extra cost and inconvenience. It’s actually been cheaper overall for my wife and I to fly from OKC since we live here.

It’s like 30-45 minutes getting from your car to your boarding area. Getting through TSA is always pretty quick and easy. I can’t imagine the place is solvent.

I’ve been running Half Life for the first time recently. I’m only a quarter century late.

The only time I forced Linux on anyone was when I gave my youngest brother a free laptop a couple years ago. It’s the laptop I had in college in 2011. It has a Sandy Bridge mobile Core i7. It’s too slow to run modern Windows. I told him he’s free to install Windows, but I don’t have a license to give him. For checking emails and web surfing, though, it was enough, and running Linux wasn’t going to give him trouble with that. To my knowledge (and to his credit), he still runs Linux on it.
