When he first started he used Pop!_OS and an issue with their packages uninstalled the DE when he tried to install steam which was a really terrible look. A bug which I believe wasn’t present in any other debian/ubuntu based distro. He then moved to Manjaro, an Arch-based distro, and just had more problems with hardware.

I wish they’d try again and just use a user-friendly distro with more momentum behind it and stability, and realistically that means Ubuntu or Mint. Or take a tour through desktop environments, package managers, and what the differences between distros actually are.

Well, I bet they didn’t lobby for fossil fuels at COP28.

FOSS is a really big reason to run Linux. In ten years you can trust that your Linux install will be running and up to date. In ten years there’s a non-zero chance Microsoft will have moved to a forced subscription model for Windows.

It also just runs faster, can fully update itself and all installed software with a few button clicks or one terminal command, and has tons of options for people who have more technical skill.

That’s a pretty frightening belief. Earth is just some bus stop your soul sits at waiting for heaven, so why take care of it and why fret about all the suffering that takes place on it.

For all we know, death may be total end of your soul/consciousness/whatever and Earth may be the only place with complex life in the universe. And we’re trashing it.

They legitimately do think they know more than NASA. At least your average conservative voter. Conservative politicians probably believe at least some of the science but deny it to keep getting voters. Conservative voters think climate change isn’t real because it still snows in winter and people who have studied climate their entire lives are just part of a conspiracy to take away their trucks.

Next year is going to be worse. And the year after that even more so. And it will continue like that for decades, probably centuries.

Even if I could tolerate dumbasses who don’t think CO2 emissions (and destruction of multiple natural CO2 sinks) are the driver of all this, it’s still infuriating that they don’t seem even concerned that the world is getting hotter and more deadly and are focused on some nonsense topics that no one in their right mind would give that much of a shit about.
