Thank you. I’ve bought a domain. I’d like to go with this option. Just researching how to do it on cloud flare

Currently I’m using tailscale. I like it but often switching IP address if I’m at home and I can’t use my normal vpn on it. Plus, I’m excited to learn about DNS and cloud flare. Its just very overwhelming haha

Good to know. I wasn’t aware of this.
Just looked it up and your right, they changed their ToS in 2023

Great tip, thank you

Your not wrong. I guess that’s why I’m posting here, just trying to figure how what I’m doing and what it all means
If you have any advice for learning I’ll definently look at it

is this much different than nginx?

is that against ToS? i want to do it but dont want to get banned

How can I force https on my apps

This is where I get really lost. I’m probably going to get this wrong so here goes
My understanding was tailscale is to connect different machines across the internet, but that a traditional VPN hides your information
I got a domain so I could use my traditional VPN and access my server. At the moment, every time I want to access my server, I have to turn off my VPN so I can turn on tailscale. That’s the exact scenario I’m trying to avoid by getting the domain.
Again, I’m sure I’ve got some stuff wrong here but that’s my current understanding

Thank you for this tip
I have just set it up and holy shit it worked straight away! This is so exciting!
My question, now that my apps are exposed to the internet, aside from having strong passwords is there anything else I should be doing to keep safe?
I just read no media servers on free tunnels so I’ll have to use nginx for jellyfin

I really like jellyfin with finamp on android but I don’t have any really specific requirements. It just acts like an old media player and works really well

Even.the $1 a year ones?

Thank you for a detailed and thoughtful reply.
I think I just don’t know enough about this. I like the xyz 1.1111b because its $1 a year. But I have no idea what type of things I need to consider before buying one
I thought it was basically just buying a URL name but it seems its more complex than that
You know, this is a fair point, but there’s a few differences.
Not all jobs require a suit, there’s a lot of choice (you could get through life never wearing one). Its also only required during working hours. Not around the clock. Women have been killed over these expectations. Its not the same.
I absolutely did not say that, nor do I believe that in the slightest
What a rabbithole to go down.
I agree no one should have the right tell someone else what to wear, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a tool of oppression in other cultures

This seems like the way forward for me.
Just so I understand properly. I set up one of my home machines as an exit node and all my traffic from my android goes through that home machine?
How do I connect my VPN to tailscale on the home machine? Its not mulvad unfortunately

Is this for homelab penetration testing?

Do you know how to disable the stock contacts? Do I do this using adb? I’ve done that before for other apps
Thank you so much for such a detailed reply. I’m going to print this off and go through it point by point.
I didn’t realize how overwhelming this would be, the amount of information is incredible.
I was trying to use the cloud flare ai assistant to set up WARP access to my phone but then I realized its basically another VPN which defeats the whole point on me using the domain because I wanted to be able to use my traditional VPN to stay protected.
I also wanted to be able to log into my server android apps like immich and Joplin but can’t do that with authentication as its not a webpage.
I’ll print this off and anything I don’t understand (most of it at this stage haha) I’ll spend some time studying it.
I got a good laugh at peepee poopoo
Thanks again
