Really? I think a pretty healthy portion of the land above the 30th parallel until the Arctic circle looks something like this
One could argue that China’s governmental subsidizing of the industry just shows the commitment they have to be a leader and dominant player in the future of transportation worldwide.
Does the American government have such aspirations? Does the American Auto industry have the vision and goal to adapt to a disrupted market?
In my opinion the arguments surrounding this topic come down to which country is going to work harder to play a leading role in the future.
China is making their bet, and the quality of Chinese EVs is increasing extremely rapidly. If they can so easily dominate the American Auto Market that tells us that the Americans have been sleeping at the wheel and need to make some tough choices about spending. We can curtail the onslaught through duties and various taxes and regulations but not indefinitely.
Whatever the guy with the biggest and/or most guns says they are
Hahaha if true it would be some poetic justice, but unfortunately these dweebs are already hanging out there half the time and loving the oligarch lifestyle, so unless that’s taken away they will die happy
See this giantic dildo? Ima just gonna set it right over there. FYI.
It sounds like they’re going to rewrite a bunch of code and decided to not invest the capital into Linux.
That’s a strange problem to have these days since libraries like this are often designed to run on all platforms, but what do I know.
But if it’s true that fewer than 1% of users are on Linux and it’s costing them more than other platforms, it makes no financial sense to keep it going.
Trump must have an extraordinarily crushing sense of self-doubt and inadequacy.
He spends 100% of his time trying to convince people that he’s the man. And yet most of the people around him can see that he’s not the man. Even most of the people who tell him he’s the man are just faking it for their own power, such as his own VP.
If he loses this election, his stack of cards are at grave risk of finally tumbling as he can no longer protect those who have been protecting him.
It’s easy to see how he’s flailing for literally any solid ground at this point in time.
Thank you for being willing to stick your neck out there and say what you feel and see.
On social media, especially sites where voting seems to happen in packs, it’s risky to have a counter opinion. Too many people just don’t say how they feel if it’s counter to the mainstream, and then their voices are completely drowned out.
Perhaps your idea is more mainstream than you know but those who share it don’t have a willingness to jump into the fire, leaving those with more extreme positions thinking they have agreement with most when they don’t.
The amount of time I reset it myself and the problem went away is too damn high.
Usually the end user kinda smirks and says huh, weird, I tried that! You must be magic!
EarlyOOM is your friend. Tweak it to save the most important stuff and kill irrelevant stuff first when low on memory.
Driver support was so dicey. If you had anything even remotely not mainstream, you would be compiling your own video driver, or network driver, or basically left to figure it out for any other peripheral. So many devices like scanners and very early webcams just claimed zero Linux support at all, but you could at times find someone else’s project that might work.
I tried to switch to Linux as a desktop system several times in the late 90s but kept going back to windows because hardware support just wasn’t there yet.
I think this was the version right before WYSIWIG support was added. So you could still use fonts, and change font sizes but on screen it would show a strange notation but not the actual font. Complex layouts were tough 😅
This seems like both a feature and a bug with the fediverse. Some topics just fit a lot of subs and then you multiply that by all the Lemmy instances. It seems like the discussions around big topics can really get spread around.
The most effective method of protesting would be to find a way to get the masses to turn against the lawmakers in such a way that they convince the lawmakers to solve the problem that the protest is focused against.
But most of these protests just piss off the masses. They run their day with traffic, they destroy heritage sites that people care about, and while they do get in the news and get some publicity, people’s memory is quite negative. And there are zero focus on anybody who could actually change the situation.
Funny games. The US probably has spies on the Russian ships. Russia may have a spy or two on the US sub. Neither side is remotely surprised by any of the public information on this.
The US sends Cuba a check to rent Guantanamo bay. Cuba doesn’t cash it.
I kinda suspect Cuba would prefer to evict the tenant but in this situation the one with the nuclear powered subs gets to set the terms.
I guess the target audience is Russian citizens and military personnel?
The only 3rd party reddit app I know that is still free is RedReader. Might be others too.
Sucks they refuse to let up on the API ban but it’s cool, we needed to get off reddit anyway.
My doom scrolling is way down over the past year.
Bangkok AP —
Thai police have arrested the driver of a bus carrying young students and teachers that caught fire and killed 23 in suburban Bangkok, as families arrived in the capital Wednesday to help identify their loved ones.
The bus carrying six teachers and 39 students in elementary and junior high school was traveling from Uthai Thani province, about 300 kilometers (186 miles) north of Bangkok, for a school trip in Ayutthaya and Nonthaburi provinces Tuesday.
