I’ve seen it mentioned that ryzen is more memory speed sensitive, seen Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 X 8GB) DDR4 3600 MHz CL16 kit for £35 on UK amazon, see a 32 GB kit for £60 for 3600, £52 for 3200. 32 is super overkill for most people still (shit I recall when 16GB was considered overkill), but it’s cheap enough that it’s harder to say it’s a waste imo.

Side note, GOW is what sold me on hdr and was the game that got me to upgrade from a 780ti and 3rd gen i5, literally couldn’t even run the game.

My partner and I gave up destiny before witchqueen dropped, played pretty consistently since house of wolves with a pause just before forsaken until shadow keep. Absolutely loved the core mechanics and the PvP is some of my favourite, but it just felt so stale, barely any new maps, sunsetting old ones, lack of committing to ideas (4v4 was actually solid, some of the maps do not play well in 6s, 3s are fine though), rotating gamemode playlists like d1 had (for 6s I find control annoying after a while, 3s I liked relic in d1, mix in elimination and I’d be good)

It’s a shame because as I said, core mechanics rock, slug shorties and hand cannons feel amazing, and fusion rifles are legitimately awesome as well. I have really solid memories of doing stupid things with stuff like the Le Monarque and No Land Beyond. Wasn’t a huge fan of some metas but had some fun times with the games.

While I like Mark Meer for his voice work in other Bioware games (Jade Empire for sure, also I don’t dislike maleshep at all) and his work on stuff like the irrelevant show, Jennifer Hale is just fantastic to the point where renegade femshep is to me the cannon version of Shepard

Seriously, cinnamon rolls (at least the ones I make) are brioche and while the dough is pretty heavily butter reinforced, I wouldn’t ever use greasy to describe them after baking even after frosting.

Brioche isn’t supposed to be cloyingly sweet either, supposed to be subtle, I’ve done rolls like these from king Arthur, added sugar is 7.5% of flour.

Legit have never had an issue with multi boot and windows like ever, tbf I don’t go into windows that frequently anymore but it’s never given me grief in at least a decade. I know my experience isn’t universal though, so sorry to anyone who does have boot issues after windows updates.

In the worst case, could use bcdedit and use the windows boot loader (tbh I have no idea if that works here, but could be worth a try)

Not the person you replied to but for interest, It was 25 hard capped in grade school only because of the program I went through back years ago, though looking now 25-30 is petty consistent in that region as of last year. Highschool was larger, maybe 30, less once going into upper year courses, literally 8 of us took comp sci and that was combined gr11 and 12

I’m still stuck mostly on 1.7.10 and 1.12.2 modpacks, I don’t play as much these days though.

I really dislike the locking of the taskbar to the bottom, having to click twice to see all my right click options, having to dig through multiple layers of menus to find a setting, not a fan of copilot being pushed in the OS (though I did totally use cortana back in the day, had some somewhat nice assistant features like traffic monitoring to recommend when I left for work), generally not a fan of for lack of better term “streamlining”, it’s mostly minor annoyances and the like but they add up.

I do really like Auto HDR, winget being there ootb (I think? Was amazing when I migrated work computers), windows terminal is straight up fantastic. It’s still definitely useable, it’s just only on my work machines (no choice, but I live in the terminal, text editors and browser for almost everything so OS doesn’t really matter much to me) and my desktop, run linux on everything else.

I find loud, fast/rhythmic music works best for me. Anything with a d-beat is generally solid, so metal (osdm, trad/speed, thrash, black) and punk (hardcore, crust) make up a chunk of my focus music, definitely not in the multiple sources category either, more of the “drown out everything else so I can only think of one thing” sort.

I have an Asus ROG laptop I bought in 2013 with a 3rd gen i7, whatever the gtx 660 mobile chip was and 16gb of ram, it’s definitely old by any definition, but swapping for an ssd makes it super useable, it’s the machine that lives in my garage as a shop/lab computer. To be fair, its job is web browsing, CAD touchups, slicing and PDF viewing most of the time, but I bet I could be more demanding on it.

I had been running mint w/ cinnamon on it before as I was concerned about resource usage, was a klipper and octoprint host to printer for a year and a bit. Wiped it and went for Debian with xfce becauae again, was originally concerned about resource usage but ended up swapping to KDE and I don’t notice any difference so it’s staying that way.

I really hate waste so I appreciate just how useable older hardware can be, Yeah there’s probably an era that’s less true but I’ll go out on a limb (based on feeling only) and suggest that anything in the last 15 years this’ll be true for, but that’s going to depend on what you’re trying to do with it, you won’t have all the capability of more modern hardware but frankly a lot of use cases probably don’t need that anyhow (web browsing, word processing, programming, music playback for sure, probably some video playback, pretty much haven’t hit a wall yet with my laptop)

I had one complain that I was being unreasonable with the salary I wanted for frelanance/contract positions, this was just before I got a job at a consulting firm, I checked my charge out rate and it’s twice what I asked for, probably more now.

I ghost them now if they’re overly pushy or give off vibes. I avoid the feed as well, just absolutely unhinged.

That’s me as well, I’ve used vim for simple edits over the years but more and more just used nano for most of my terminal based edits. Finally ran vimtutor (mainly because I wasn’t aware of it) and wow, I should have done that years ago.

I’m somewhere between right now, doing a personal project that takes skills I learned in uni but haven’t used in years and it’s a much larger scale than I probably intended. I’m letting myself be ok with going slow and making mistakes, bigger issue for me is going to be letting things be good enough and stop screwing with them.

Diving in over my head is normal for my ADHD, don’t doubt it’s that way for others as well. I definitely tend to overdo things

I just really like KDE, been between that and XFCE for years. Ubuntu’s version of gnome when they went to that side bar layout that looks like it’s meant for tablets turned me off of trying it again (though probably be great on a tablet). KDE’s super customisable too, totally done a faux osx look for my laptop and use more or less stock KDE on my shop computer. I didn’t mind older gnome though, isn’t that what cinnamon or mate are meant to feel like?

I’m always personally wary of storing blobs in a database if for no other reason it’s going to totally be more expensive to store on a server rather than in some sort of blob storage.
