  • By which they mean they will sacrifice as many people as they must to accomplish their stated goals, thereby actually martyring them. There’s literally no such thing as “a living martyr”.

How are you not getting this? You cannot be considered a martyr until you have died in service or your religion, either by righteous sacrifice or by capital punishment for actions of faith.

Look, I get where you are coming from. You’re trying to apply logic and reason to a situation where there isn’t much of either. Religious zealots and unscrupulous nationalists are doing terrible things to each other, and there’s a shitload of innocent civilians stuck in the middle. But your oversimplification of “hamas should surrender without condition” conveys a tremendous lack of understanding of what either side hopes to accomplish.

For the record, I don’t necessarily disagree with you. I believe Hammas could do much more good in the long run by surrendering, thereby ending the conflict… but then the eyes of the world would be on Israel as they continued to bulldoze Gaza and make life for innocent Palestinians even harder. But that’s still a shitty take because the innocent still suffer, and the world would likely just turn away and ignore it until the next time a terrorist does something terrible.

  • It’s not so much a dislike of Israel as it is a dislike of a government hiding behind false accusations of racism in order to further their own shitty agenda.

I am friends with Israeli jews, I am friends with Muslims, I would love to visit Russia someday as a tourist, and I am proud to live in the part of America where I currently reside. Thay said, I don’t like the actions of the IDF, I don’t like what Hamas stands for, I don’t like the actions of the Russian government, I don’t like the actions of the US Government.

But if that’s the route you want to take, you really don’t like Palestine, huh?

  • Once I was walking out of a Target. I passed by a woman and her maybe 6 or 7 year year old kid just in time to hear the kid say “mommy that guy creeps me out”.

Thanks to three concussions before age 5… and my entire 20’s being spent in a drug haze… my memory is pretty shot. But I remember that encounter as clear as day.

I’m sure I’ve received a few honest to goodness unsolicited compliments, but they don’t stick in my mind as much as the derision.

You’re casually blowing off two of the main reasons why I still have to use Windows.

Is there a Linux alternative to Excel that will allow me to reliably write and execute VBA macros that I can then deploy to my windows using co-workers?

Is there a Linux alternative to Photoshop? Doesn’t even need to be the most current version. I’d be happy with something that is functionally comparable to Photoshop 7.

I’m not being glib with those questions either. It’s been probably ten years since I’ve really used Linux. If there are legitimate alternatives I’d absolutely give it another go.

They’re in a tank. They literally do not need protection. They also do not care. The hats fill their microbrain compulsions just fine. They don’t need your absurd “hey, aren’t we all just urchins in hats!?” train of thought.

They’re probably living their best lives. They’re not being raised for food, they’re not living in a wild ocean… they’re wearing dapper hats instead of the dead husks of their seaborn brethren.

You could take a lesson from those urchins.
