The logic was just that when UNIX was originally evolving, they ran out of disk space on their PDP-11 and had to start moving less-essential binaries to a different disk. That’s why it’s “/usr/” which was originally for user data but that disk happened to have free space.

Any other explanation is just retcon. Some distros try to simplify things.

I literally said it has nothing to do with Photoshop - if you shoot a photo on your iPhone or Google Pixel it shoots in HDR, and then you just use the built-in editor on your PHONE, it will edit in HDR. Linux is worse than Pixel and iOS stock photo apps at photo editing. I don’t know why you’re obsessed with Photoshop.

This isn’t about being fancy with Photoshop layering together bracketed photos - modern flagship smartphones all shoot direct in HDR. Basic edits in stuff like Apple Photos on the Mac or Google Photos take this into account.

Each 7-11 in Japan has one of those big business multicopiers. You can copy, print, scan, fax. The printing is sweet because it does photo printing on glossy paper, but also laser printing up to A3 size or even making custom post cards. They also have databases of paid content like sheet music and stuff you can print. I prefer Lawson/FamilyMart though since they also have sticker printing!

What people call “demonetized” on YouTube is actually called “no or limited ads” inside of YouTube Studio. It’s not Google but the advertisers who don’t want their Coca-Cola ads shown on those videos. YouTube Premium views still pay out on those videos since they’re not ad views.

If everyone paid for YouTube Premium and didn’t use the ad-supported product, then advertiser boycotts would have no power.

Yep. And if you look at video platforms that actually have to pay for their own bandwidth (Floatplane by LTT), you’re going to end up paying $5 PER CREATOR. Hosting video on Vimeo is also super expensive.

Milennial. Got started with computers when my dad brought home a Mac Classic for Christmas 1990. Our elementary school still used Apple II machines for a while (number munchers, ad libs and so on) before switching to Macs. Didn’t even see a PC until years and years later.

Yeah my kids get to play 90’s CD-ROM infotainment games. World of Richard Scarry and such. Basic math, phonics and spelling haven’t changed since then and these games are guaranteed to not have any in-app purchases or ads! First it was on a PowerBook G3 that is going bad so it’s been swapped out for an iMac G4.
