I just saw the Uber case and realized that this in definitely way differently in the US. I was not aware that completely getting around the law was such a common practice. I thought that Disney thing was a rarity

How often are you reading about someone suing and then that lawsuit (which is already in court) being dropped because they got a better offer for an arbitration/settlement out of court? For me that’s a very common thing to read for bigger cases.
But I agree that forced arbitration with not even a chance to take it to court if you don’t like the offer is horrible for the consumer
Arbitration doesn’t save money. You still need lawyers.
of course - but usually it’s way faster than getting a proper court-ruling - and since lawyers are paid per hour that makes a big difference
Isn’t it often in both parties to settle things out of court? For the one that’d sue it’s usually more money at less cost and the company gets around possibly having a bad precedent set and the bad publicity to potentially losing in court.
This is probably aimed at people creating issues in the hopes of getting a settlement for something that has a slim (but Nonzero) chance to hold up in court.
It’s a company - I think this aims at people only bringing serious claims and reducing the paperwork for them - but since it’s Valve people will glorify everything they do
That guy legitimately made his hobby into his job.
There’s 0 reasons for him to still keep updating the game with as much content as he’s doing except for his own satisfaction. Truly the best developer a game can have
Illegal immigration surging? The numbers are lower than any of the previous years? I’d consider thinking about which echo-chambers I’m part of in your place if that’s really the main issue you’re worried about right now…
*unless you’re working for public infrastructure, service industry, cultural industry, energy production, some parts of transportation or some parts of manufacturing where you can’t shut down a plant for a single day.
There are so many exceptions to that law I’m really wondering how much difference it would really make it supermarkets and regular shift works would also continue on the weekends - just with the standard 5 days workweek still applying and having to pay a bit bonus for working on Sundays, the same way the other jobs are also getting paid more for Sunday work
So many humans are so incredibly bad at being content with what they have - the grass is always greener on the other side…
And the conservatives attack them on every front because of how much they stir up things - it’s so sad how well that propaganda works…
I’m pretty sure one of the newer add-ons of the original game has controller support as one of its features
Titan Quest is my personal GOAT game. Aged fantastically well, too.
Really interested to see how this will go
My go-to game for the question: “if you could forget a game just to experience it all over again” such a perfect game
Was using Osmand before and it’s a lot nicer to use for day to day navigation on the bike than the sluggy mess Osmand sometimes is
Perfect example of how the conservative goal is not to “make things better for most people” but to “make things worse for specific groups”
And even if they don’t keep it: they got browser-level Adblock- and Tracking-Filters that you can just feed the same lists you’d put into uBlock
Sure it’s lacking the spot-blocking, tool if there’s a missed ad or a fine-tuned whitelisting but I think that browser will stay usable even if V3 is implemented.
Tbf - once the fediverse gets big enough it’s kind of open season for misinformation spreading groups. They can just join another server once the one they used got blocked. Worst case they get onto a server that actually gets used by normal people and produce a lot of casualties by getting the server defederated.
I think it’s a nice concept but for this type of misinformation it’s really not the best thing…
The German silver medal winner in long jumping couldn’t finish her last jump and got wheeled off in a wheelchair as she couldn’t breathe properly anymore as a result from a 2 month old COVID infection still reducing her lung volume.
Isn’t that how silicon valley worked for years even within itself? Run a loss for long enough until you’ve overtaken the market and then raise prices when the competition has lost their edge.
I’m firmly convinced that 90% of the protesters are trolls that’ll vote Trump anyway and are just trying to discourage people from voting for Harris that would never vote for Trump the same way the Trump campaign did that against Clinton.
Some people are probably participating in those as useful idiots that are not realizing that their activism will only make matters worse
I think it’s very telling how often those protests are accompanied by “not voting for X” - since that’s the main agenda - not to help Palestinian people
