It’s been just over a month using Fedora silverblue (Ublue ) for me and the experience has been pretty good.

What I do is just setup a distrobox container with the arch image and install software using paru from AUR. So far this workflow has been working really well. for me.

Also if you decide to use any Ublue spin, you’ll also get homebrew pre-installed. So that can also be considered as an alternative option to AUR.

Have you tried Floorp yet ? It’s pretty good, you may find some things really neat coming from Vivaldi.

I tried both flatpak Steam and the non-flatpak one which comes with Bazzite. I gave it access through flatsel like usual, but when I tried to add the drive from within steam it just sat there doing nothing.

I have not encountered this issue on other distros.

Actually I don’t have an igpu, I have an rx6600 and an i5 10400f.

I’m currently using Aurora-dx, is the switcheroo patch available there too ?

Rather than rebasing, would there be a way to to layer the Bazzite Optimizations (Kernel & scheduler Optimizations for gaming, not Lutris etc) on top of aurora-dx?

At that point BSD will take the place of linux I guess.

I have tried Buyvm when I was getting into selfhosting during the pandemic.

They were pretty cheap too, not sure about the pricing these days but you should take a look.

I still try interesting distros but the ones I daily drive are usually Arch or Tumbleweed (Void linux came close)

My favourite arch based distro is CachyOS so far, been working really well for me for the past 5 months or so.

I daily drive Window managers but occasionally I also check out Desktop environments. Here is my personal preference -

Don’t wait. Get Linux Mint Cinnamon / LMDE on a USB and install it.

If you don’t like Debian based or Linux Mint for some reason, then check out Nobara or Fedora KDE spin. EndeavourOS is also great.

Hehe, any kind of ricing can be taken too far.

Funnily enough I recently switched from WM’s to DE (and KDE plasma at that) so that I don’t spend entire days adjusting making pointless window border customization and autostart scripts that are already taken care of by a Desktop environment.

That said, I cant live without my keybinds so I’ve replicated the same on my Plasma setup.

As someone from India, I agree with you.

I guess people just want to use what everyone else uses. Using something different than windows is instantly assumed to be very difficult.

I even showed my friends how they can play games on linux instead of having their laptops get stuck while using windows 11 , but they still won’t even consider trying it.

A few days ago I started using NixOS as my daily driver. I am yet to understand how to use home-manager and the nix language but right now I’m good with the main configuration.nix and fleek.
