I love space stuff and NASA (one of the few truly great things about the US) but they really shouldn’t be yeeting things into orbit and hoping it takes care of itself.

They can be fun for a bit. I tend to get overwhelmed with all the crap I loot. I have the same problem with games like The Elder Scrolls series. I’m alway afraid I’ll accidentally sell something important or useful, but I usually end up with a lot of junk. Lol
I’m not a programmer and I’ve been dual booting for 25 years.
If you like or need the latest software, use a rolling distro. I use Manjaro (boo, hiss) and really like it. But if you don’t want the Arch users to beat you up and pants you, I hear Endeavour OS is pretty good.
Bonus points for making Arch users seeth because you call Manjaro, Arch.
I kind of feel like puking.
With prices like this, it’s kind of performative activism though. It severely limits access and makes it like privacy is a luxury only a few can afford. That’s a weird message to be sending out.
That really sucks and isn’t a good look for Purism.
Their prices are insane, $999.00 for a 11.5" tablet? $799.00 for a mini-PC? Are they fucking mental? Who would buy these?
Linux works for roughly 80% of what I do. The BIG missing piece is audio production. The software is mostly okay, it’s the actual audio system that’s the problem. Audio on Linux sucks big floppy donkey dicks. Yes, I know all about JACK (complicated and never works the way you think it should), RT kernels, Pipewire, etc. It’s all terrible.
All those middle managers will be displaced.
I am a meat popsicle.
Then they find out it’s the the low battery warning on a carbon monoxide detector under the stairs of the emergency exit.
Considering most of them are aging boomers and gen-x, I don’t see that going too well. What are they going to do? Toss their Molotov cocktails and throw their backs out? Hobble down the street in their walkers and mobility scooters? Ridiculous.
Pipewire and Pipewire Jack drop-in replacement. Also with and without a rt kernel. They exhibited the exact same behaviour.
I couldn’t get latency down enough to be usable. Audio on Linux is not good.
I’m not on YouTube shouting about it, though.
I’d argue that it really doesn’t matter. Linux has taken over everything else. And the more MS fucks up, the more likely people will look for alternatives. I do believe many will go to Mac, but Linux is clearly picking up some of the slack as well. Microsoft wouldn’t be the first tech company to take a tumble. Never say never.
No, he’s just grating and obnoxious.
