No, no, no, the CEO runs the charity free of charge. That allows the charity to pay for their flights to the Caribbean and it rents the CEO’s yacht there (at a discount of course) so the CEO can charitably give a talk about how being poor sucks to potential donors. Of course the charity needs to pay for fuel and food, that’s only fair for the value given by the wonderful presentation given by the CEO.

This of course is all done tax free. After all, we wouldn’t want to bankrupt these valuable charities.

It’s about stopping centralized programs which would actually address public needs. “We don’t need universal healthcare, here’s a charity that helps people with the bubonic plague!”

And in the worst cases, it’s a grift for the wealthy. Where the charities exist to do scammy things like pay the founder to fly to luxury resorts to give a talk about why poverty is bad. Or to fund your family members solar manufacturing company. Or to put fuel into your church’s private jet so you don’t run the risk of catching demons from the public.

6. They lobby against government aid programs and increased taxes because “look, see, we are help the poors, no need for the government to get involved!”

I’d rather an easy to manipulate person in office than an explicitly corrupt suit.

But beyond that, wealth and prestige isn’t granted to people based on intelligence or capability. There are plenty of smart capable people that have had lives far more relatable to the average person.

We have more than a few examples of idiot million and billionaires.

Anyone who’s name ends with “the third” should not be allowed to run for office.

Also anyone that calls themselves The X king should be banned from office… Heck, anyone that’s ever owned a business of any sort should be banned from office. These are people not representative of the general public.

Yup. If you are going to own a printer, get a laser black and white printer and keep it forever. Do not get an inkjet printer. And if you need color prints (you don’t) you can literally just do those at walgreens, cvs, or a bunch of other stores that will do color prints.

The only time you should get an inkjet printer is if you are a busy photographer selling a bunch of prints and you’ve hit the point where doing color prints through a store has become too expensive.

What I find fascinating about the whole story is she did not start with the goal of melting down the statue. In fact, this whole controversy was kicked off because the city of Charlottesville wanted to move the statue to a less prominent park, rather than having it in the center of the city.

She talks about the journey of the statue and why ultimately they came to the conclusion that destruction was the right decision (including the fact that they observed these statues turning into racist shrines after the initial incident).

But hey, he called you an asshole and said you need a come to Jesus moment. So that makes him cool right?

I believe that we should take the statues and move them into museums dedicated to history. We can’t change what happened before we got here, but we can clean up leftover shit and make the future a better place to live.

Let me share 2 practical real reasons why that’s a bad idea.

1. there are a LOT of these statues and these things are HEAVY. A responsible museum won’t accept this stuff because there’s simply not the room for it.

2. The people that will accept it end up being the last people that should. Like stone mountain Park, which enshrines and worships these racist assholes.

The very real problem is by having and concentrating this “artwork”, you create meeting spaces for white supremacists. Because ask yourself, WHO is going to and wants to experience the confederacy memorials?

Exactly, I demand better of him and I will probably vote for him. I really wonder though how someone that’s a Muslim or Palestinian can stomach voting for him. His policies around Israel are pretty much identical to what Trump would do which is a big deal for a lot of people. He’s basically saying “Forget that I let Israel murder and starve to death your loved ones, I’ve been pretty good when it comes to monopolies right?!?”.

This is such a misleading headline, it’s propaganda. Biden Did not say “Immediate ceasefire, no excuses” Boy I wish he did. Instead he said “Boy I hope we have a cease fire. There’s no excuses for Israel keeping aid from going in”.

The headline is misleading. Biden simply said “I hope a ceasefire happens one day”. Which is a FAR cry from “demanding a ceasefire now”. He isn’t doing enough because he hasn’t been saying things like “We are planning on withdrawing aid from Israel if they keep up this offensive”. Instead it’s “Well golly gee I hope Hamas returns all the hostages for a 2 week ceasefire and no troop withdrawals by Israel.”

But hey, at least he’s decided that he can say the word “ceasefire” Up until maybe a couple of weeks ago that was a forbidden word by the administration.

Look at all these human shields… shielding the food and medical aid. Guess we better mow them down.

All solved problems with well known solutions.

Networking is solved by processing commands in lock step (quake actually pioneered this).

Pathfinding has well known solutions like A*. That’s really integrated with fog of war. In fact, it’s easier to do today because computers are faster

Unit formation can be added but does not need to be. If you are doing high cps like in games like StarCraft, it’s even preferable to the gameplay that you don’t solve that problem.

And let’s not forget the for these big studios, the solutions to these problems already exist in previous titles. They aren’t starting from square one.

These problems are so well known that Indy game devs routinely solve them solo (see, games like factorio). Heck, the fact that you know to cite them speaks to how well known they are.

What’s blocking new rtses by AAA companies is nothing technical, it’s financial. Creating the assets, levels, and story are almost certainly a bigger blocker than any technical problem.

Yeah, big studios have largely abandoned rts because micro transactions and season passes destroy the genre. Milking the players is just too hard.
