  • Please dont follow windows workflows.

If you run a random script with or without sudo, you can easily get malware or break your system.

A .c file is also not ran I think, I think it is installed on the system i.e. you are doing something completely wrong and followed some strange advice.

    Instead,

    1. Try if the USB cable is the only issue
    2. Drivers are in the kernel, so you cannot just install them
    3. Ask Linux Mint people how to do this, or Ubuntu or Debian people (the distros are related)

  • I updated this project once. This is a very good start on what packages you need.

There are metapackages different for each distribution, like plasma-meta on Arch or plasma-workspace on Fedora.

This may be too bloated, but leaving out some core components (like infocenter or display) may result in random Systemsettings pages missing.

Also on Fedora, the “Netinstall” “minimal” variant is impossible to include wireless packages (“hardware support” group) so it is easier to start from a normal KDE install and just remove things you dont need.

Some things are also settings like balooctl disable && balooctl purge

  • No, I understand your points. I may think you need to specify what you mean by “customizable”. A lot of stuff users normally do, like theming, installing random stuff etc, works. You can layer, build your own image etc.

But this is not the point as OP was frustrated about having an OS that even though promising to be reliable still breaks.

And whining about “oh I cant tweak it” is just not at the correct place there.

But of course my answers were kinda harsh, sorry for that. But these issues are really nonissues if your priority is having a working system.
