Also, this irresponsible behavior is now heresy or something? Like non-opensource code, too.

One of the most prominent improvements in Opus 4.8 is its honesty, ruthless efficiency and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope
rising unemployment level has been entirely due to immigrants
what you write is blaming unemployment on immigrants with no justification; please explain how that’s not nazi propaganda that’s clearly forbidden by our server rules, I’m responsible for your stance before the Fediverse and will do what must be done if you can’t explain yourself. I’m willing to listen to arguments and will wait for 24 hours.
Because it is. Didn’t you read my comment before writing 6 full paragraphs in response?
“because it is” is not an explanation. I took my time to settle this with words instead of reacting to other users justly reporting you and you answer with “because it is”?
and we are not yet throwing them out due to this
This is not true; we are throwing them out. Even asylum seekers sometimes. And why would we throw people out due to our problem? We throw them out because immigration rules say you can’t stay unemployed for certain amount of time without losing your residency rights.
How is rising unemployment level due to immigrants? All the unfilled jobs we have are nurses and builders/welders, few things immigrants can actually do; just like in the meme above, it’s those so-called “entrepreneurs” who take benefit by hiring desperate people at fraction of their wage (that removes their right to get welfare, which is quite honestly barely above minimal wage now). Immigrants filled lots of underpaid and hard jobs that were otherwise vacant even in our tolerant society like toilet cleaners or berry pickers. I know a guy who became a cleaner like this, he had to actually spend some years getting formal education for that particular job! Immigrants get hired as farm hands only as “ok, I’ll only hire you because you can do much more (build, weld, drive tractor, repair tractor, treat livestock, sort produce, etc.), at same wage”. And they do actively throw away most of immigrants right now, just not those from Ukraine for now.
Don’t get me wrong, Finland is in fact better than the most of the world in terms of immigration and current economic situation, all the depressing numbers tell us is that Finland is actually doing a good job of keeping statistics up to date. But it’s still quite sad and also avoidable situation. There is no single political power responsible (we can see influence of every political alignment in damage done, and potential for every political force to make things better - except for Perussuomalaiset, screw those incompetent useless dorks).
We have high unemployment only because the economy is wildly mismanaged. We have these indirectly but quite obviously government-supported effectively monopoly distribution systems of S and K groups that just do protectorate bullshit (I’ve tried selling locally made chemical products through them, undercutting “made in China” by price, got total rejection due to “we reduce number of supply partners”); we have large farmers who stay competitive due to huge and wasteful influx of government money (like, one guy just got 2M+ Eur grant to build meat factory after showing that he has a few cows; no plan, no consideration for beef demand going down and ecology policies, to the fact that region is oversaturated with beef producers anyway with farmers who reached their production levels without government support of this level; the dude just hangs out somewhere outside of Finland mostly and his “property” is managed by another dummy paid by government separately) and contracts with monopolists that don’t let smaller and more advanced players to even enter distribution; we have extremely poor logistics outside of big players (I’ve had delays with electronic components for months and nothing I could do about that legally - and no competition in logistics market); we have nonsensical manufacturing regulations tailored to favor big centralized production (like, legally requiring small time farmer to have full blood drain and sanitation facility to butcher one pig?). We have killed our small business (with business party in power, huh?), and relied on global trade to keep rolling entirely. Now that the latter is broken, we suffer.
This has absolutely nothing to do with immigrants; if anything, they at least prefer to shop local when they come here, bringing some life into dying economy away from major capital owners. I’m trying to get a job or a business running for over a year now (because I try to be proactive and consider both, also internationally, they’ve decided I’m not qualified for welfare, like, dude seriously? not that I care at this point, what good would welfare be for me when things are what they are); there is zero competition from immigrants, there is zero demand from market for anything at all but food (guess what, setting up a food sale point is not feasible anymore too https://yle.fi/a/74-20225046). You’d guess there is demand for defense? I’ve made an anti-drone device over a year ago, offered it to army, they were so happy but told me that ordering would take about 2 years, so I went bankrupt instead. Guess what, it’s already obsolete, Russians and Ukrainians roll out new toys every month. I could’ve been upgrading the technology to protect us all, instead I just fill endless stupid fake job applications and am trying to figure out how the hell I’m going to feed my family. It’s all disgusting farce, regular late capitalist churn with moomin franchise.
My town is full of immigrants who can’t start their business or get a job, and old folks well beyond retirement age. Does this sound like a competition? And the government spends all resources on promoting xenophobia and boosting police to bust remnants of grey market trade (paying taxes but slacking on regulations) that keep economy from total collapse.
Nothing here is caused by immigrants; our economy desperately needs more of them, more of their hands to do the labor to make businesses pay more taxes so that we could pay the welfare to old and genuinely unemployed locals. Or immigrants ideas to open new markets, stay competitive for real - which is the only option when government support is not available. This is how I was, before becoming a Finn, years ago, when market was in much better state. I feel sorry for these poor folks now and blaming them for what we do here ourselves is just wrong.
Dude, like, they kick out unemployed immigrants. No matter if there is an ongoing employment crisis and it’s highest unemployment rate in this country, and active genocide and war in their country of origin, no excuses. Unless they are asylum seekers, which is a whole different level of immigration suffering.

yeah, I have email ports blocked at ISP level just because. I can have my own email server on VPS, but what’s the point then? proton.me is just cheaper (and nice too; today they cancelled a huge auto-renew invoice to me when I asked politely, no nonsence about “our contract states that you are on the hook” to my pleasant surprise).
btw what do you mean by “Do not accept 3th-party registration email”?
I use yubikey for ssh access mostly (setting it and GPG signatures with unextractable key was fun and messy). Moving secret key across machines became quite easy to do in a secure manner. I was thinking about making it boot key for my portable laptop, but ended up just having throwaway policy about its contents and relatively weak encryption passwords not worth bruteforcing. Losing a key to a laptop that could be lost itself on the other hand sounds like quite a shame. With stationary server, I don’t know, I feel like anything more complicated then a power switch that could be operated with physical access IMO does not provide extra security because - yubikey left in a rack is just as hard to push as power button.
Also make sure you have more than one, they could easily break, be lost, or eaten by a dog named Kubernetes. Seriously, I had friends who neglected this advise and got in a mess.
It’s not like I’m a fan of yubikeys, I just happened to get quite a lot of them on one of a gigs I was doing and had to come up with sensible uses. Well, signing git commits and other gpg stuff was not sensible.

I’d starve this way
Whoa, FreeDNS is a killer, I wish I knew about it before! I have domains to donate probably (unless they expired lol). I sure need to try that.
Yeah, using VPS to route traffic is an obvious solution, I’m thinking about it as the last resort here.
So how does this work then, I host DNS and it pushes my data to other DNS servers around the net every time my IP address changes? Can you share an example of how could be set up?
You get candles if you are datasatanism type of programmer plotting stuff
yeah, the whole point was to make fun of web2 development as it went. Now he has web3 logins too, which are way more awkward than anything before, but, like, work with as few 3rd parties as possible.
The regular login is just password that fetches creds stored in local storage without any cookies. Most of time one wouldn’t even notice it, and as secure as CORS/HTTPS (which would screw you if not working properly anyway). Kind of shows what a pile of data-stealing nonsense this all is.
Some dudes with oldstyle websites from web 1.0 times actually keep doing this. A friend of mine has a login with dog chip on his website among dozens of other options.

Bah, very funny, but this shit is real. I can’t find any paid projects lately, going back to C/C++ or TS or even Go and Kotlin feels so disgusting now. I had gigs for last 6 years before 2025 or so but I suppose that data slide with Rust positions is… somewhat misleading.
AI can’t figure out most of Rust tasks indeed, I keep trying to start doing that vibecoding thing and failing, especially in blockchain and baremetal, so what, who needs those anyway? AI does great in areas like JS (as far as I can tell, not worse than regular devs), yet job boards are still full of python and JS positions.
Nothing can beat Rust at mission critical areas, but people would rather save pennies on development and then have their butts on fire than do things right.
Yeah, except my players were usually quite badass math people, so I get to use reasonably strong crypto (well, not proper crypto, but strong enough against manual attack) stuff for ratcheting. Often it was just OTP (when I’m being lazy). Then everyone just got annoyed with math arms race and we stopped using dice almost entirely.
But numbers should be spread more uniformly, not in a sequence!
Unless you have a hash table. A hash table with a ratchet on non-blind throws is a fun way to mess with player’s bad habits.

IRS might need a word with you
Yeah, I actually worked with a guy who thought it’s all a bunch of noncense, and made really harsh jokes about typesafety and ownership rules and such, yet delivered decent Rust code!
Technically, TTS/STT are mostly MLs; I’m pretty sure many people run these. I have a setup but I’m better with buttons that with spoken words, and I listen to ambient sounds or music. I think some day I’ll make voice assistant for talking to while driving, but that’s not a trivial task hardware-wise, even if I used cloud LLM layer, which I won’t. Putting AI on baremetal sounds like an interesting project.
I have a homemade “local agent” that can actually “code” somewhat, I use it just to figure out how this thing works on the inside practically. Mostly useless otherwise (also I have GPU that’s older than AI, so it’s kind of fun technical task to run this stuff on pure RAM+swap). Feels like the whole hype is greatly overrated, but I appreciate a chance to learn something new anyway.
