I thought maybe this is just one of those things a secular or conservative party says to win some votes, but it is based on a BBC investigation. It clearly calls out advertusing with terms like “rape video” and “child video” in it that link to telegram channels where you can buy said videos. The article about the BBC invesigation, also talks about the scenes depicted in those ads. It is not good. Meanwhile Meta is hiding behind the claim that they use “advanced AI to detect abuse” and that purpotrators are “hiding between their 3 billion users” and even that those ads did not violate their policy, but I think they retracted that fairly quickly.

Holy shit! I pay €6000 per year and I already think that’s massively expensive… it is more expensive that regular universities in NL, because my school is private, e.i not funded by governmen. Funded schools cost like €2000…

Tge problem isn’t so much that people have changed. It is that these people are more visible. It’s a scale issue. The general public has always been this stupid, but before social media, they just kept to their local communities or even just their own households. Now those communities are online, global and mainstream and even the houswewives you wouldn’t normally see are there. It’s all the people, all at once.

Unless you want to do something about it, you can best ignore them. Stick to your own group and your own family. You’ll be much happier that way.

If you do want to do something. Repetition is key. Keep having the arguments that seem so pointless. Keep pointing to tge facts and the science,even though they don’t seem to listen. If they hear it often enough and from enough directions, it might spark something.

I think even the most radical specialists would call that radical.
