  • GPLs “restrictions” are freedom preserving though. It only restricts developers from keeping dirivitive code proprietary. In order to violate the GPL you’d have to choose to use GPL code and then choose not to release your modified versions of it under a similar copyleft license. It may seem counterintuitive, but having those restrictions results in more software freedom overall - similar to the paradox of intolerance.

I’m not saying MIT or so called permissive licenses are bad, but the permissive/restrictive language is just as loaded as the OPs suggestions. Both styles are needed, but copyleft licenses are better at promoting software freedom.

Edit: I do agree with you that LGPL serves an important role in promoting free/libre software where it would otherwise would never be used.

  • Texas sabotaging public education again? Color me shocked. No doubt the lower test scores will be used to justify privatizing more schools.

Also 3000 exam responses is luaghably low to train an LLM. These tests are for every 3rd-8th grader. That’s less responses than you’d get from a single mid sized school - expected to train an LLM how to grade probably millions of answers across the entire state.

They claim its not an LLM because it doesn’t learn as it goes. I’m fairly certain that’s been the common implementation since we learned from the older generation of chatbots all turning to Nazis after being trolled by 4chan.

I really love “Sarah Shook and The Disarmers” as well. They actually go by River Shook now I think, but the band still uses their dead name.

A bit more on the folk side than country, but “Nick Shoulders and The Okay Crawdads” is one of my absolute favorite bands these days. They just put out a new album too and I can’t recommend it enough.
