Even if that were not morally repugnant, RU has no fuel oil and very little gas to export at the moment. They still have crude, but DE doesn’t have the kind of refining capability that would be able to use it fast enough to make any difference.

NP complete.

The Netherlands has removed many departments form shitter and moved them to Mastodon.

Hang in there our German brothers and sisters, the heat finally broke in NL last night.
Of course, it’s still 26C and 80% humidity, so YMMV.

Thanks for the helpful and reasonable explanation.

Thank you for the helpful reply - it was the “different software” bit that was throwing me off.

Hey actually got a follow up but untreated to op - I still don’t really understand the difference between .world and Piefed. I find myself using the Piefed interface a lot, and although a lot of the content here is similar, it’s not identical to where I signed up, .world (even though I’m subscribed to the same instances).
Anyone got a quick primer on the differences?

Some of us started on Usenet.
Now, get off my lawn… /s
For the record I like no1 the best.
But what if I told you that you could make no2 in less than ten minutes with only three ingredients?

(if you slightly undercook this you could still bake, just add breadcrumbs, sprinkles of some hard cheese, and herbs on top of it and back for about 10 minutes on 180c/350f)

It’s a similar phenomenon for sure. Just a different setting and the young age makes people more vulnerable.
And of course you are right it is not at all desirable.

I think you are correct it’s structural. It’s just that, for example, when my wife went to “high school” the social status thing was not as intense vis a vis the levels. I think it’s this latter that has changed.

Not really sure I understand your apparent confusion internet friend.
Both are true: some kids are getting pushed into an education level not appropriate or beneficial for them and also some adults suffer burnout, and burnout is an accepted condition here.

This is true but it’s not only GPS - it’s the whole array of GNSS and associated tech.

I deal with this every day with the dark fleet using four enterprise AIS tracking systems and can 100% confirm this is accurate about GNSS systems.

Actually IRL we are currently experiencing the opposite problem: too many parents (and kids also) browbeating teachers into bumping kids up to VWO who really should not be there and will fail.
Keep in mind that at our highest level of VWO, gymnasium, you have to have many years of both Latin and Greek + two other languages and pre-cal starts at age 13. The other levels are not as over the top language intense, but are the equivalent to an English public school/N American private school.
There are not that many kids prepared for this, and parents pushing them into that education path is a recipe for a very, very unhappy and likely unsuccessful childhood. Plenty hate school so much after this they never bother getting a university degree anyway.

Eh to be fair, part of that is because we can safely take time off to recover. Mostly.

NL. I’ve stated it here and other places before and my Bsky profile is mostly shots of my city. I am trivially easy to dox.
But, I have friends, so don’t do that please.

I Left a long time ago (for the second time) and will never go back. My kids got a far better education, my income prospects greatly improved, and life here is just …easier. Mind you I left from NYC which is everything except easy. Still love NYC but will not go back to visit under these circumstances.
My wife and I fought actively for change on the local level. It changed nothing.

“The West” is still doing business with Russia, but be patient. I have it on fairly good authority the 21st EU sanctions package will contain a full services ban. This will effectively end all European involvement in transporting Russian crude/products, other commodities, etc. Probably in the Autumn.

What I think they meant to say was not that they were getting their news from social media. They clearly knew what had happened from actual news and were commenting that social media wasn’t really reporting things accurately.
I’m sure she’s quite smart, but the Ukrainians have severely damaged 7 of the 10 main Russian refineries, and there are massive queues for petrol reported all over Russia.
I’m in the industry, so if you really want me to dig up the stats on gasoline / fuel oil refining in Germany I can get you that. But Germany has been a net importer of refined products for ages and ages, and that alone should tell you something.
