Next time try grilling or pan frying the vegetables for more flavor; don’t steam them. Use olive oil like the other person said.
Also you didn’t heat the stove/grill enough for a proper sear. Next time use more heat. Get it as hot as you can. The outside should be more brown and crispy than that, while still being rare to medium-rare on the inside. Same thing applies to steak. More temperature, less time.
EDIT: One thing I like to do is hit the meat with a blowtorch first, and then stick it on the grill/stove. It definitely helps get the browning process (i.e. Maillard reactions) going.
Yes but steaming veggies is just doing a disservice to them. You do you, but personally I’d never do that ever for any reason.
