Random thought, do Lemmy posts show up in searches?
I’m pretty sure that’s how I ended up at reddit. After so many google searches lead me to the site, I decided to check it out some more
Or the upper class spend that money on building bigger walls.
Tangentially Speaking by Chris Ryan.
He interviews interesting people, some famous, most not. The latest episode was with a guy he happened to meet at a party and thought he had an interesting story.
As the name implies he is very happy to go off on tangents, so the episodes can end up in topics you never would have guessed from the guest description.
Word of warning he does tend to talk for about 30 minutes at the start of every episode. I personally enjoy it but I know others who it annoys.
I feel him selling out turned me off ever wanting to watch it. He didn’t need the money, he was already super well off. So he just showed that he didn’t value his listeners, he knew he would lose some but didn’t care.
Compared to my favorite podcast that offers people to email him if they can’t afford the paid stuff because he just wants people to be able to listen.
Happy to learn what illegal content is on display and discussed about here?
This looks much like much more what I was looking for. Like a Foss replacement for the android keyboard, will keep playing with it to see how it goes. Thanks
America can’t afford to lose Taiwan, they make too many semi conductors.
From my understanding they are one of a very few handful of places that can make the chips that are being used in training the current AI. Taiwan is one of the main ones.
Amazing this was posted 4 days after the in person voting… how is an Aussie meant to make an informed choice when the data comes after the voting day?
Quite honestly it was a very confusing referendum. The question seemed simple on the surface but as soon as you ask questions very quickly it was hard to find answers. I think this confusion is the reason the majority voted no, they were scared to choose yes for something they didn’t understand. I tried to understand and still couldn’t find a straight answer of what this referendum was actually about.
Stroganoff has an interesting flavour. Sometimes it is really satisfying, other times the weird flavour is off putting. Not sure I’d that is just a me thing
Is there an alternative you can recommend that you feel is more honest?
It is hard to move away from maps completely but for pure navigation there are many alternatives. From the FOSS world, there are 2 I would recommend.
Organic Maps - fairly clean and focused app mainly around navigation
OsmAnd~ - a more fleshed out map app. Easily see hiking routes, ski routes, etc. This is the one I am trying to use at the moment.
Still doesn’t help solve the google review for restraunts and shops etc, but it is a step in the right direction.
I’m the opposite. I prefer a pale ale over an IPA, but recently I found hoppy larger and it is great. I find straight larger so tasteless most of the time.
Though if I am only drinking 1 or 2 beers for the night then I would choose a dark beer.
This took me a while to digest, but thanks for the thorough answer.
I agree that silly subsidies should be abolished and climate friendly subsidies should be enacted worldwide. However looking from the American lens you are talking in the change seems almost impossible. Democracy worldwide has been corrupted America being the largest example of this with “lobbyists”. How are these uneducated, time poor, malnutritioned people meant to make any change? Maybe I just have my doom and gloom face on today.
In Australia we can barely stop our government from cutting down ancient forests to make woodchips. Let alone the 3 new coal mines they opened, and this is the climate concious party.
Looking at all that I feel making personal changes is the only way I can personally stay motivated. At least I am doing what I can in the face of this seemingly impossible task.
I see this argument a lot about choosing between saving the planet and eating and affording rent. Of course that person is barely surviving they aren’t making choices for their food. The same can not be said for the middle class and up.
To instantly dismiss any argument that you as a person don’t have any responsibility in this, no matter how small, is ludicrous. We should all be doing all we can. Not blaming corporations but then still buying their products, eating their fast food, etc. Blame a corporation and then do something about it, like avoiding nestle products even if it means going without, especially for non essential items.
But who is buying the goods and services these corporations produce? Mysterious figures in the night, or humans?
Greenwashing is a result of a change in consumer desire, not 100% what was wanted but a change non the less. If the people buying goods actually think before they buy and don’t just look at the lowest priced item then change will happen.
Usually I have come across this with poorly done DLCs. They offer some bonus item in game.
So if you buy the game with all the DLC in a sale then when you start the game you have all this extra stuff you wouldn’t normally have. I can’t recall the game but there was one game where I actively had to not use the DLC items otherwise the first part of the was way too easy and bordering on boring.
My brain respons with a never-ending stream of negative stuff to say as a response to any question. Then I have to try and find something half positive to say.
Much easier just to hide myself away during these times and not have to deal with that.
