  • I’m sorry, but fuck Wendy’s. Yes, capitalism is in decline around us all, but fuck Wendy’s for deciding they’re gonna be the first in fast food to push that envelope to full-blown-shit mode. And their burgers are just eh.

(Hey, pssst… so, quoting etiquette typically means you’re not using the quoting carrot on something not in the the comment you are replying to without noting it in the comment somehow. I was staring very confused at my replies inbox for, like, 4-5 read throughs of your reply, because its an opinion I could have typed, and couldn’t remember at all lol. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️)

  • Which is hilarious, because its not as if they pay enough people to be on shift at the same time so that they could make their menu items efficiently. The last 2 dozen times I’ve had to pick up someone’s order from one of 5 or so local Subway’s, they have had 1 single person running the entire joint. I’ve made it a point to ask every time I go:

    • -how many people are supposed to be working today?

1, and about half of them opened alone, and all were closing alone! (Even young women!!!)

    • -Is it always this busy? (Every time its a 12-30min wait for them to even begin the order)

Always gets met with some form of “Yes, or even busier, with the occasional half hour where nobody comes in”

    • -Are you the manager?

    Nope.

Its at that point I tell them to take all the time they need. And that they are dramatically underpaid and should riot…

  • This is why I have to overcome my phone call anxiety and inform anyone that I can’t even acknowledge a notification on my phone without risking forgetting, and they need to call me if they want any kind of timely response. And since I’m currently unmedicated I force myself to just not acknowledge/dismiss/click on any notifications until I know for sure that I’m prepared to take the time it takes me to respond to something.

  • Hey.

    You know what?

The only use those types of thoughts have in anyone’s life, is to remind you of something you value completing.

Thats it. Once you’ve had the thought, let the next thought follow just be - Yup.

Maybe you do it, maybe not. But putting that pressure on yourself isn’t serving the purpose of doing that thing, in fact, it almost always does the opposite.

So yes, Ideally, we’d have no motivation other than feeling the need to do a thing simply because its what need to do.

But its not like that, for anyone. Stop being so expectant of yourself, and instead just expect that kind of thought to come up, and then wave at it, and let it pass on by.

I feel ya. My parents literally met at an Alcoholic’s Anonymous meeting, and they both continued to use and drink long after that too.

That said, eh, fuck paying for joy. Steal that shit like its a grape at a grocery store. Just make sure you’re not stealing from people in the same boat, cause thats just stealing from yourself in the end too.

  • I know exactly what you were replying to. I’m saying your idea is not one that I think to be good. But, I disagree with opinions I see all the time without feeling the need to point out why. My sarcasm, and my bothering to reply, come from the same place.

Setting aside the conversation on what the US should or shouldn’t do, your comment directly implied that the Hatian people, and their peers, which we’ll give the charitable interpretation of neighoring island countries, to be less civilized, less complex, and not as industry heavy as Japan/Europe post-ww2. I don’t find that to be the language or implication of an opinion that is on good footing to say the least. Also, that you viewed those to be reasons that would make the task of intervention difficult.

I’m in agreement with you about one thing, doing a good job of stabilizing the hatian future is riddled with difficulty and challenges. Where we differ, is that the idea that the US (and other western governments) aren’t already highly involved/responsible for the current situation. The question is not “Should the US get involved now with how much violence there is etc”. The question is actually “Should the US continue to shirk its responsibilities to the hatian people for their hand in the hatian government that has all but collapsed?”

We aren’t jumping in or staying out, we’re either staying silent or a stepping up.

  • …The US had a moment of glory when it won WW2 and then rebuilt both Japan and Europe into world class economic powers. Of course, those were highly civilized, sophisticated, and industrialized states and so America’s job was easier. Places like Afghanistan, Haiti, and most of Africa…not so much.

    Sooo much ewww.

How in the world, I wonder, did a beautiful island become suddenly swarmed and populated with an essentially non-homogeneous group of people from across the ocean? Surely their “uncivilized and unsophisticated” nature wouldn’t have allowed them to cross such a vast expanse. Such a mystery!

Any Western government would be crazy to set foot in countries like that. Maybe send some humanitarian aid, but otherwise stay the fuck out. Let their cultural peers help them out.

You’re right, it’s best that outisders remain totally uninvolved and let nature take its course amoungst this anthropologically typical country and neighbors… Well, I guess yeah, we can pitch in some goodfeels and be a tiny lifeline for a limited to few, after all, we gotta sleep at night.
