This tuling was passed due to a contract obligation to open a sandwich store. These cases are ueually related to regulations. Kind of like when an Irish court ruled that Subway subs are cakes, so higher VAT and sugar tax would apply to them. (In all fairness, the sugar content in the Subway “bread” is several times higher than the max allowed for bread.)

I haven’t used Photoshop; learned basic photo editing in GIMP (as a poor student, I appreciated a powerful, free editor). So, no complaints about the UI from me. If anything, I’d probably bitch about the Photoshop UI if I ever used it.

One thing that concerns me a little, however, is the third-party integration with Nik Collection. The second version, which I’m still using, was provided for free by Google. They later sold the software, and the new company commercialized it. I found it difficult to track down the v2 installer, so I’m now keeping it on multiple backups, in multiple locations, as one of my most treasured software possessions.

I watched a video on Youtube (so take it with a grain of salt) that claimed that the current climate models don’t take into account the reflectivity of the clouds. When these are included, the models appear to be far more accurate. (I only have a passing interest in the topic, no expertise, so I likely misrepresented the conclusions. If you are interested more watch the video yourself.)

When I was still buying new games, I’ve had development studios I preferred, and others I avoided. Those were simpler times (and simpler games), when one small studio did everything.

Later, additional external companies got involved, and some tried to hide their presence. I remember when The Adventure Company started using a very customer unfriendly sort of copy protection, and I started using a list of affectted games, so that I could avoid them.

These days, multiple companies are involved with game design. As a consumer, it’s only normal that I’d like to know who had their hands on developing a game I’d be interested in. I haven’t played any games Sweet Baby was involved with, but if I did and had a strong opinion (negative or positive) about their work, I’d appreciate a list of games they worked on, to make a purchase choice that would suit me best.

Agreed. I used to be the tech support for my family members. Everyone I switched to Mint Cinnamon stopped calling me. (That’s also when I realised my relatives never call me to share good news or to ask about me.)

Blue pill. I’d miss my wife and kids, and even if I were transported back in time, I doubt I’d do all the required steps to get to them again.

Seconded. Switched my wife to Mint two years ago, and she never cared about going back to Windows. Not that she cares about Mint, either; the point of contention was the transition, which was much smoother than she was afraid of.

I use Mint, and I found that it’s the best distro for introducing my family to Linux. Those who tried it never asked for their Windows back.

A former classmate of mine has her three kids there. She complained that the tent of one of them was burgled and most of her daughter’s things were stolen. So, add poor security to all the other issues.

Actually, I’m using Type-2, regularly three VM images (not at the same time). The Internet/Office is the recent Mint version (Cinnamon; I just like the interface). The gaming VM for “modern” games is also Mint. For older gaming, I actually use a Win98SE image.

To explain the gaming: I almost exclusively play adventure games and turn-based strategies. For TBS, the replay value is very high, so I’m still happy with somewhat old titles, such as Heroes of Might and Magic II and III, Microprose strategies or Stars!. I found Win98SE to be the OS where most of them run best. Adventure games don’t have such a high replay value, but there’s a steady stream of new ones (via GOG) that usually work in Mint as well. As a result, I don’t feel the need for a type-1 hypervisor, and can’t tell how performant the games would be on bare metal.

Reinstall? Nah… I have a bunch of virtual machines, which I set up and customised the way I like. Then I back them up. Use a VM for a few months, back up personal data (if any), delete them, copy from backup, power up, install latest updates and go with it again. Depending on their function, I keep the VM for longer (gaming instance) or shorter (Internet/office) periods before replacing them. That’s become just basic computer hygiene for me.
