4·14 days agoIf their budget is tight enough yeah a Linux build-your-own is likely the cheapest way to go. It probably won’t be able to play high end games without getting close to the steam price point but you can go much cheaper and still play the majority of steam games.

72·14 days agoI’m a data analyst by trade so rhetoric like that can fuck right off. You want to talk about loot box mechanics? Sure. But bullshit scare mongering descriptions like that have no place in reasonable discourse.

161·14 days agoSure, but they’re one of the only companies proving that consumerism doesn’t mean you have to be a complete asshole of a company. They make money, people get the product they want at a price point they are satisfied with.

251·14 days agoHonestly that makes me like Steam even more. Any company that is willing to put up that much money to serve a niche market earns my respect. Sure they’re doing it for the simple reason of Steam machine owners being guaranteed Steam gaming customers but it’s still serving a subset of their customers like few companies do these days.

1685·14 days agoI imagine most of the more tech savvy people on Lemmy would scoff at this and say “Might as well build a PC” (me included, which I already did), but this is aimed at the consumers who do not have that skill set and are willing to pay that price point for a Steam gaming system /shrug

Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Virginia woman sues Outback Steakhouse after slipping on mashed potatoesEnglish
1·28 days agoYes obviously I’m talking about how it’s the corporation that wants to stall and drag it out, not the person suing them. The game plan is to delay and run up the costs and hope the person suing them runs out of time or money. Then only offer a settlement once it gets close enough to going to court and looking like they aren’t going to win, which is frequently known before it gets to trial based on the evidence in play.

7·28 days agoI’m afraid you have it backwards. Corporations will stall as long as possible, statistically the longer it takes to go to trial the more likely for the lawsuit to be dropped. Spending more money on lawyers is considered a better investment than paying out earlier and for a lesser amount because it sets precedent and potentially admits fault.

4·1 month agoI gotta second the paid option to support the devs. I posted about a crashing issue yesterday and they’ve already updated the app to correct it. It’s a small thing but that kind of effort on a passion project is easily worth a few dollars donation.

Certain nsfw ones (not all) that if I try to go to them it either then kicks me back to my “main” feed or crashes completely, so I don’t know if something changed in certain active NSFW communities that it doesn’t want to show?
