Just wanted to add that Celeste is one of the best games to get into speedrunning.

Unlike most games the dev actively worked with the speedrunning community and made the game as accessible as possible.

You’re timed by the ingame clock and it pauses in between chapters so you can take a breather without affecting your time.

Here’s what it looks like (My PB) I learned by doing 1 run a day and slowly improving (as well as watching other runners)

A Hat in Time!!! It’s like an old school n64 platformer, but so solid and well polished. Both my 11year old son and myself have 100s of hours in it

Just the whole Touhou series. Despite what all the horny fanart for this series might have you think, the actual games are very SFW and don’t sexualize the characters. The fandom is very prolific and produces a ton of legitimately good fanwork. Touhou Luna Nights is one such fangame.

The source series is a bullet hell made by one guy called ZUN. The source series is well-known for its music, and almost everyone is a woman. The men involved that I remember are a pet turtle (Genji), a cloud in a bossfight (Unzan) that accompanies a girl, and a guy who is not in the games beyond a few cameos (Rinnosuke). So pick any game in the source series and you’ll have a female protagonist, and a cast full of women. I recommend starting with the sixth game, Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, as it is the first game in the series made for Windows. I have loved this series since I was a little girl. I am not usually a bullet hell person.
