No you didn’t confuse me you were just wrong. Thank you for clarifying
I swear we’re a few decades away from players just watching the ball saying “no after you I insist”

Sure let’s talk about it like the law. If a drunk driver kills a kid they are going to get punished and imprisoned for that. If a sober driver intentionally runs a kid over and kills them that person is going to get a much harsher sentence.
Now you understand the difference between a yellow and red card

backroom deal that Reagan’s people made with the Khomeini regime to keep the American hostages in captivity until after the election
I still hold that that was treason and should have been tried as such, but we only ever try people that attempt to make America better for treason

Disneyworld being in the middle of the state will then just be a little closer to the beach spiking property values in Orlando

Unfortunately when businesses base success per quarter or by number of sales in the first week of release that means very little to them

So basically the modern economy lol.
Gas peaked this year around $4.40 when minimum wage is still somehow 7.25. The lowest average rent I could find in any state was $983 a month in West Virginia. So that will take about 135 working hours (pre tax of course) to afford. That’s about 3.4 working weeks at minimum wage just to pay rent. After taxes and other expenses that would be like 80 hours a week easy.
And yet our leaders say the country is doing just fine. There’s no recession. God we are fucked

TIL, never heard of that recession before. It last about 8 months and seems to be the smallest labeled recession in the past 100 years

Nope communications failure, it was resolved before this morning thankfully

My german apartment is managing, but these thick walls are getting warmer day by day. I’m afraid it’s going to become an oven before long

Considering that alone suggests a rate 10 times higher than they suggested yeah.
But also don’t assume education is equally distributed. Wealthy nations have higher percentages of the population with PhDs. Also let’s not forget the economic factors. Many fields you at most need a masters degree for job reasons. There are a lot of capable people that stopped there to get a job

Thank God you’re here to tell us the correct way to whip our troublesome women 🙏

a) it’s an example to illustrate a point. You only have to be a very moderate lemmy user to know what I’m talking about.
b) The first sentence was correct. The rest you made up, but that’s okay you are right for the most part. Unfortunately some people don’t just mean supporting Iran in terms of the conflict with the US/Israel. If you look at the comment that I replied to you can see the user says that Iran should be supported because they oppose global hegemony. That extends far beyond the recent conflict.
In their mind the USA is the “enemy team” so whoever is up against them they will then be the “good team”. That’s exactly what the person I replied to is saying. It’s frankly sad and morally bankrupt.

Funny how your type will double down on how there’s no moral choice between democrats and Republicans
Yet somehow you can find the “moral” choice between a theocratic dictatorship (also capitalist btw) and an imperial nation.

This mentality exhausts me. If people can stop treating geopolitics like a fucking sports match that would be great. We don’t have to root for anyone in a given conflict. We can acknowledge both sides are bad and not matter the outcome it will be bad for common people.
If we ever are able to do this we might actually have some progress. But until then we continue to worship inherently evil states

Bringing up Joe Rogan, but ignoring the estimated 1% of the global population with PhDs is a choice.
If we just counted phds that becomes 800 million people, but truthfully I think most capable of a masters would stand a good chance of doing this work.
Human intelligence is often underestimated by cynics imo

Historical projections of population place the global population at roughly 162 million people. Let’s say only .1% of the population was capable of this sort of thing. Although I think it’s low and while these early Greek philosophers were certainly smart the key to their success was wealth and the ability to focus on their “craft”. But I’ll really lowball human intelligence
Anyway, at .1% of people that means roughly 162,000 thousand people would be capable. The number of those with resources to actually dedicate the time even smaller.
Today the world population is over 8 billion, but we’ll use 8 billion. So at .1% that gives us 8 million people alive today that would be capable.
I really underestimated human intelligence, but the point is the same. We have so so many people alive today that there is certainly quite a few people capable of doing these sorts of things

Ceasefire typically don’t reverse territorial changes/occupations.
They are supposed to stop further aggression allowing both parties to discuss the dispuited/occupied territory and all other aspects of the conflict.
Please don’t read this as support for Israel’s actions, it’s just odd to expect a ceasefire to mean a full military withdrawal. It’s better to think of it as a pause.
Of course it’s not like Israel has ever respected any ceasefire. So maybe this is all a moot point anyway

My theory on how this will go.
Iran will wait until the receive the money and other benefits from the deal. They will likely let some cargo ships through the new toll system and re-arm. Letting some oil pass eases the strain and decreases the odds other nations will get involved when they re-close the Strait.
Israel during the time will keep attacking Lebanon. Iran once it’s ready, minimum one month, will launch several strikes on Israel citing Lebanon. It will then tell the US to drop support for Israel or it will void the agreement and close the Strait.
Now here’s where it gets interesting. Trump may actually give Iran what it wants. They have fed his ego and convinced him this is a good deal and it will make him look good. The narcissist that he is will be pissed and much more likely to drop support for Israel for ruining his deal. Unless his handlers reign him in, then we get a full restart of the conflict shortly before midterms. Which will likely nudge things in favor of the democrat candidates.
This is pure speculation in my part, but I actually feel pretty confident on this one
It’s only a crime if it’s intentional. Otherwise you just get a bill with some interest.
