That’s a really neat and fun project!
I have a back DSLite that I got the new OS cart for and I’ve been having fun loading it up with emulators and my favorite games from the past. I love how there is such a vibrant community around DSLite hacking.
You should certainly keep doing projects like this and sharing them. I’m glad you shared it because I love hacking projects. However for me this is not on topic for selfhosting even if it is still a very cool project.
Do I understand correctly that what you’ve made is a DSLite client to chat with the apple included model on your laptop?
Which LLM are you running and what are you running it on?

Builds failing was pretty rare for me but I didn’t customize the compile options much beyond AMD64 optimizations.
I originally switched to Gentoo when I got my first AMD64 workstation. Gentoo was the only distro with full support and optimization for a little while.

I haven’t run Windows in 25 years and I no plans to. I’ve actually been using linux for my desktop all that time, including gentoo for several years. Personally, I think people should use whatever os they like and the more choices the better!
Why do people say to keep Arch healthy you must follow the mailing list for needed manual changes for some upgrades? It that a misconception?

The headline is a little misleading, this story is about the group Velvet Ant breaking into devices and replacing the login software in those devices with backdoored copies.
It is not them backdooring linux login software in the distro supply chain…
There are many options to consider. You could use a very short timeout and optimize for low friction unlock, such as with a thumb reader.
My advice, if you have an app you want to use that requires the keyring then use the keyring with it. In general, I say use a password manager.

Keyrings like GNOME Keyring support setting it to auto-lock after a timeout. That would be the way to use it, IMO.
A keyring is better than a plain text file (apps can only access the keyring when its unlocked) but not as secure as password keeper like KeepassXC.

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be a setting in my KDE Mixer. I wish I could remember exactly which one.
My suggestion, check every setting in the mixer, especially around outputs, slowly and carefully. Try each output one at a time if you aren’t sure which is the right setting.
