Oh, thanks for reminding me of that heart attack I had when one of these fuckers snuck up on me. Felt really clever watching a packt from afar before painting half of Nevada red.

Same. I thought I’d go down a road at night for cover. Then a Death Claw appears out of nowhere behind me.

That was me playing MGSV. I’d stealth around for all of like two minutes before somebody does a ❗

At which point my concept of “stealth” shifts to “dead men call no reinforcements”

MGSV got much better once I figured out how CQC and holdups worked. CQC lets you drop someone without using ammo. You can move them while they’re unconscious, and then wake them up with a kick. Once they’re awake, you can hold them up while they’re on the ground. If they’re held up, they’ll stay on the ground permanently (unless another guard finds them and gets them up). So you can capture an entire base without using ammo, simply by finding a quiet corner to stash your guards in; You don’t need to worry about them waking up from a knockout, cuz the holdup keeps them down.

I know the Hogwarts Legacy game got a lot of hate from Rowling being a monster, but the game mechanics really let you optimize stealthing. I’ve snuck into many a goblin stronghold and just sneaky sneak murder-hobo’d like 20 or more of them, one at a time, looting the bodies before they even hit the floor. They even show the little ! icon. I feel like I’m playing Solid Snake goes to Hogwarts sometimes.

If you’re going for speed, the “hard” way isn’t exactly difficult to sprint through. The deathclaws in Deathclaw Quarry are literally in the quarry and would require going out of your way to the left of the road to encounter them.

Just watch out for RNG cazadore spawns at the narrowest part of the trail. 😬

You gotta watch out though, because several Deathclaws can spawn outside the quarry on the highway itself that can be troublesome to sneak past. Easiest way is to hug the rock walls along the right side of the highway and climb up if necessary.

If you do decide to take that route, it’s especially rewarding for a melee/unarmed character. You can pick up Chance’s Knife as well as the unique Love and Hate spiked knuckles, which are both absurdly powerful. Especially if you use the weapon binding ritual and Rushing Water. Those two weapons alone can last you the whole game.
