Dog refuses to eat food. Why would dog not eat food? Especially favorite food. Also, dog throws up. Inescapable conclusion: dog must be sick.

In OP graphic, owner gives not one fuck that dog is sick. OP only wants 2 things: for dog to not throw up, and must eat favorite food. Label is assigned: dog is “picky”. Not “sick”, not “feeling unwell”, but “picky”, as if dog is at fault. Zero empathy, zero compassion. Look at the stare of the man towards the woman: DOMINANCE. Alpha male.

Translation: boomer humor (said both by creepy old men but also creepy old women alike) looks at girl, caring not one whit about whether she is happy or sad. Just like dog, facts are irrelevant, her feelings are irrelevant: girl must smile more, for the ease and comfort of boomer. That is all that matters, to boomer. DOMINANCE.

My own reaction: vomit emoji. Sad. :-(

Are you ok friend? Did I use the wrong meme format and offend you?

My dog happily ate her food after throwing up this morning. She has GERD, which is typical for her breed. Sometimes she doesn’t feel well, pukes instead of eating (which would help the nausea), then I get to clean up puke while she eats her breakfast. If I don’t put enough topper on her kibble, or cook an egg and mix it in, or sprinkle cheese on top, often times she won’t eat at all.

I feel your pain. You’re describing my dogs to a tee. I can understand how it could be confusing to people who have never had to deal with this. What breed is your pupper if you don’t mind me asking?

German shepherd. Luckily she only has GI issues and is picky. She didn’t get the hip troubles others have and isn’t aggressive, so I’d take her anyday.

          Inescapable conclusion

My wife works in the veterinary field and you don’t know what you’re talking about. There’s a chance they’re sick, but you can’t determine that from a meme

No my dog does this too. If she thinks about food too much before breakfast /dinner time she pukes. A vet said (I don’t know if it’s true) their stomach produces too much acid so they puke.

Treats before bed usually mitigates the problem

Can’t speak for the other user, but we have had three West Highland Terriers/Westies. All three of them did this at times and could be super picky at times to the point of making them sick.

They have really strong internal clocks, and if their schedule gets out of whack, or if we’re slightly late, or if something gets their appetite moving earlier than normal, this happens.

Their stomachs start producing acid whenever they think it’s time for food, and if they don’t get it in time, they throw up stomach acid.

We have it decently under control these days due to years of experience… but it takes 4 meal times and a small snack before bed. One or the other of our current two will still get sick once every few weeks.

I have actually had to dial back their portions carefully the past few weeks because they were both a bit overweight. So I can confirm that this can be a problem even when they are getting enough food.
